Ugh!

Once again, the timing was wrong!

After a bit of so and so games, it was a change to have such a crash so early on.

It was good to have some more "grounded" offers than we were having during the recent period of very bad luck. Getting a first offer of £8,000 after loosing the £250k was just daft, so I was pleased with the £3,500 today.

I would have dealt at the £4,500 today, and once again (even though he said it before he dealt at 5-box), the 2-box offer I thought to be a bit high - £14,500 on a blue/£35k finish seems quite close to the average - as said previously it would be equivalent to £100,000ish on a blue/£250k offer (I think).

Very unlucky finish of having a power 5 in his box, and only true gamblers that were always going to go to the end would have got it IMO.

On a different note, Linda seems to be turning into quite a character  :laughing

And as regards Yvonne watch she had her first blue in ages today (£10). You thought she would have realised when not having to apologise upon opening her box.

ETA: The "Dad's Army" Theme was great during the closing credits - although (hopefully) set the record straight for the two viewers that may have a slight feeling that this show is going out live :-D

Should have been here for the OHO club. But at least it's not a blue win.

Exactly, when even Mark realises it's not necessarily a bad game, you know it's more of a stepping stone to greater wins, rather than another squander.

A decent game, nevertheless

Yeah, a bit like the start of Season 4...but this time around, I doubt there'll be huge wins coming when Season 6 starts

Can see why he took £4.5k but the EV of the 2-box offer was around £6,500 so for me it was certainly worth the gamble today to 2-box.

Enjoyable game though.

Found that game quite surreal in places, don't think anyone's walked to the crazy chair to the strains of Bud Flannagan before. There was some really good humoured banter throughout the game, there are some real charecters emerging and Noel seems particularly feisty at the moment as well (loved his quip about the newbie's T-shirt - it would be so funny if he was wearing a lemon one tomorrow  )

As for the game play, considering the way his luck had been running I can understand Paul not wanting to take that final gamble and, as i'm fond of saying on these occassions, it doesn't matter if you do bring a Power five amount to the table, without a decent back up it might as well be a low blue.

Interestingly, my EV calculator says £50k-ish (based on all final 2 FDs added up), divided by the 10 pairs left, equals just over £5k expected value. However, it also takes into account board instability to give a final figure of £3,300, which seems about the right offer. I think it was a justifiable deal, it wouldn't be worth the risk for me, as I'd only expect to get around 10k on a blue/35k finish. If the banker had guaranteed £14,500 however, that would've been a different matter...

EDIT: Oh, apparently there was a guarantee, wonder how I missed that? :ponder:  In which case, it's a No-Deal then, as the EV is then indeed around £6,500!

No major problems with his deal, given the fact that the offer was only £500 less than his highest at that time.

Loved the Dad's Army tribute at the end!
