Tom's game today.

Noel welcomes us to the start of a new week, and this week will see the 1,300th show. Noel says he can count on one hand the number of people who have come for just the £250,000, and Beryl did just that yesterday.

Tom has box 18 today.

Tom is a youth worker from London. Tom explains about his job and how in the first part of his life he wasn't very pleasant to a number of people, but one day went to a fete with someone and found religion and it changed his life forever, and he now helps young people in his job. We get to see a picture of tom and his wife and Tom starts to get very emotional about it, he then introduces his wife who is in the audience for support.

Right. Where do we start? Beryl didn't come blindly for the quarter-million, she was chasing 20% of that, and if she'd picked the other box at the end you'd have realised that and been celebrating a 'courageous' £50k OPW.

We've got another player heavily influenced by their faith, making it three of the last seven. The spiritual angle of this show has really been emphasised lately. Born-again Christians do tend to be amongst the most devout and conservative, ironically enough - George W. Bush was one.

None of that really matters here though, it's all about what the boxes do, what the banker-producer offers on the resultant configuration, and how Tom reacts to said offers.

Three blues, £50k and £75k. I've seen worse. Eleven grand? Bloody hell that's almost dealable.

Three consecutive amounts removed in round 2. Neat. A very good round, and the uninterrupted block of six between £3,000 and £35,000 is almost as pivotal as the continued presence of the top two.

Noel asks Tom what he would do with any money he won, and Tom says he always said he would like to take some kids out to Romania to do some volunteer work. The Banker has Tom down as a resourceful determined young man, but he hates the thought of his money being used for charity!
