Ramesh has a background that screams "good at maths" to me. Let's hope that's reflected in his play.

Below-par opening round, but we can take it, and Ramesh certainly can, instant No Deal. That, followed by an all-blue, inevitably leads to a second offer that really is nigh-on dealable. He recognises as such, so we do indeed have a smart player in the chair.

Another good round, although we're out of the mid-reds that were so decisive in yesterday's game until it was rendered null and void at the end. Offer has to reflect that, it does, I would not think any less of anyone who walked away here. It's a four-box game, though, so it's hard to walk away before the ADP, especially when you're buying into the notion of 'positivity' as Ramesh does here.

4:32pm at the second break with four of the power 5. If this isn't a £35k+ win I'll eat my hat. £35k goes, the offer is more than enough to take me out of the chair, but Ramesh is listening to the host. Hope he doesn't regret it. Blinking hell he doesn't!!

£400k in the final five. Oh boy.

Noel says the banker HAS to stop Ramesh now! The banker says that if Ramesh says no deal, the final offer could be just £7 if Ramesh is left with 2 blues at the end.

Banker's offer:

£51,000

Thus far it's a rare, perfect match of board and player. How far will he push it though?

As if recognising the potential that Noel's "OHO" talk is influencing Ramesh, the producer cancels it out by making the two-box disaster scenario explicit.

I'd have to Deal for fear of that scenario, as I'm sure James1978 would. Three-box game and sixty-something percent of the mean, though, is a reasonable gamble at lower stakes for a lot of players.

Ramesh says he feels very lucky and Noel says people don't get the mega money without feeling lucky and being brave. Tom says it's a nice clever offer and Raff says it's a 60% chance that Ramesh has one of the reds on the table. The banker phones back and says he accepts that odds are Ramesh has a red on the table but he says £51,000 is too much to lose!

Ramesh's wife comes down to the table and she says she'd go one more round! Ramesh takes his shoes off and has a little prayer...

Ramesh says NO DEAL

Just tuned in to see Ramesh declining £51,000!

Are we about to get what we haven't seen since May 4th 2007?!

Ramesh is a very smart guy with a head for figures, you don't get into his line of work without those attributes.

I really, really hope that decision was made with that head. From what I can read in the commentary, it wasn't, it's been made from a spiritual perspective, "feeling lucky" and "feeling positive". You can't change the odds with words and perceptions, and someone with your scientific background really, really ought to know that.

This could lead to some serious regrets if it goes wrong. Hope he knows what he's let himself in for.

Round 6

Noel says this is 3 massive boxes in Ramesh's life but also in the history of the show.

16 - Andy G - £50,000

Noel says this could still be a dream or a nightmare.

15 - Emily - £100,000

"Oh crumbs, OH WOW!" says Noel.

19 - Raff - £10 :D

Banker time with £5 and £250,000 remaining...

What's he praying for? 'Lord send me a pile of cash please?'

Sorry to be irreverent, but really....

Ramesh makes a little prayer to his lord to thank him not for the fortune but for the courage. The banker says that was a vivid demonstration of the power of faith.

Banker's offer:

£77,000

I've a feeling he's going to go for it. Hopefully he will be the first £250k winner.

Tricky with the £5 as the fallback.

I really hope he'll take this... I really don't think it's in his box. :ponder:
