Now that I agree with! At the end of the day, it's a gambling gameshow and people can come on it and take risks. I don't see why he deserved to fail, as some of suggested, for the nerve of rejecting a few dealable offers. We always need a variety of contestants and the games we remember are the ones where big risks have been taken.

He was obviously disappointed at the end but he seemed to understand the risks. He just thought it was worth the chance.

And my only complaint is that sometimes in the past, Noel has said things out of turn for whatever reason that seem to be tempting the player into creating such memorable games. Let 'em happen as they come, just like this game.

(And for what it's worth, I think that if Noel isn't going to stop the guilt-trips for tension, then he should really play up the 'what have you done?' card at every turn, and become a properly faux-malevolent host - treating premature Deals and unsuccessful gambles with equal hostility. You just know if DoND had started in 2001, that's what would have happened...)

Indeed. It's painful watching people pressured into 'no-deals' that are obviously not their true instincts. As you imply though, this wasn't one of those games.

And yet today we had the polar opposite; Noel talking the player into Dealing!

Bit gutted about that result. Really liked Gaz, and wanted him to do well. I thought his attitude was great.

Firstly, let me say that I do not encourage Wakeyism (I've made that clear before) but I have nothing but respect for Gaz for giving it his best shot. Yes, the offers were amazing (and I would have dealt even before 5-box), but people don't win the big money without taking massive risks. In this case, it just didn't work out for him.

Comparisons to Corinne have come up in this thread. To be fair, I feel a bit more sympathetic towards Gaz winning a blue than Corinne. He wanted to change his life for the better (which given his intro, he already had done to some extent)/give some money back to his parents and family whereas she only wanted a car. Perhaps for that reason he should have dealt. Maybe, but he had no regrets (backed up by what Kim said yesterday). He was happy to go away with £750 knowing he gave it his best shot and made the most of the one opportunity.

The best of luck to him in the future. With his great attitude to life, he'll be fine.
