Harold asks for some advice from his relatives in the audience. Linda says he thinks the banker is being mean with the offer, as the average is over £50,000. The banker phones back and says the average is less important than she thinks it is. Harold says the offer should be rounded to £20,000.

New offer...

Banker's offer:

£19,000

Noel says he knows nothing about cruises but he thinks Harold could still get one with this offer. The banker says that was a massively brave no deal. He asks Linda if she'd be happy with half the average and she says yes.

Banker's offer:

£5,000

Harold says he thinks the £20k could be in his box and Noel says clear thinking now is vital, as this is just a coinflip.

Can't help but think he was pressurised into no-dealing at 5-box due to all the jibes that he was going to be cautious....god I sound like KP here but they were really obvious throughout. Couldn't help but think that if he was going to deal at 2-box then he should have been dealing at 5-box - but I guess both actions are rational in that you've gone for at least a huge offer with the £250k in play at 2-box, it hasn't come off so ensure you go home with something!

Really glad the £20k wasn't in his box after the deal!

And I didn't get the wife's attitude either - one minute she said he could be the first male quarter-millionaire, then she looked like she'd sucked a lemon when he no-dealt! :)

Still an enjoyable show mind you!

Not bad a game...definitely was worth going for with £10,000 and £20,000 to fall back on...and at least yet another complete crash was avoided by a last minute deal...

...but my dream of appaearing on the show as the first Davey is over!!!

I don't think Harold made any bad decisions in terms of gameplay. £19k was arguable either way really. If there was no back-up to the 250k it would be an easy deal, but with 10k and 20k still there, you'd at least have the chance of a decent bail-out if things went wrong (unless you were incredibly unlucky and hit all three reds), and with a potentially huge reward if he kept 250k in play, going on wasn't a foolish decision. And when you got 50p/£20k, again it was arguable either way, but after a game like that it would be devastating to win pocket change, so a deal there was justifiable.

Today was the perfect example of a roller-coaster game: a good start, deterioration in the middle, and then a recovery, only for it to collapse again. Still, £5,000 is enough for a decent cruise. Well done Harold!

Not a bad game, some good offers, and the 5 box decision was justifiable either way. Again Harold was just unlucky the final round didn't go his way.

I think i would have wanted £20k minimum at 5 box to walk as with that configeration anything equal to or above the second highest box is dealable, but having said that i'm not sure i'd have risked it just for the sake of £1,000

£19k was a very marginal decision - good to see someone with a head for stats although £5k on that final 2 is on the stingy side. I thought Harold probably deserved £7-8k due to his braveness at 5 box.

Oh joy oh rapture.

To quote a song made famous by another Harold, Melvin (and later covered by Simply Red, more DoND irony there): "If you don't know me by now, you will never, never, never know me".

I know Noel by now and this is what he does. Harold just squandered £14,000 listening to him - well, and the missus, if she really did encourage him to go on then instantly react badly like James implies then she probably got sucked into overriding her own preferences herself!

Well done Endemol! *sighs*
