Round 6 (proveout) continued

Noel takes the box away and the banker phones! He asks if anyone remembers David's game who was a vicar and had an empty box, and the box contained £250,000!

Noel now reveals what is in the box...

Tom - 21 - £250,000

Noel says isn't that amazing...

2 - Adam - 50p

Banker time with £10,000 and £50,000 remaining...

The banker says the £250,000 must be heavier than the other amounts as it has more ink!

Banker's offer would've been:

£26,000

Box 12 with Jardi contains the £50,000

Noel says Vikki will now be able to secure the university education for her children.

Well that's a marginal TBW (from a probably inflated prove-out offer) and probably an order for some stronger adhesive at the Dream Factory.

I'm going to be really pedantic and suggest that the £250,000 value is the lightest of all the values. The red card would contain LESS ink as the values are printed in white. :p

A bit average that game really. Slightly mediocre deal despite it being a 2 box game but the 250K label in the proveout made it a bit more interesting I suppose.

Well that was quite an odd game for sure :suspect:

That £38,000 offer was so inflated!

I wonder if the banker will make an offer "minus the cost of a bottle of glue" tomorrow!!!

One-post time. I can't not associate that spelling 'Vikki' with one of my musical friends...

Bingo player, carer, family woman. Going to be one of those whose heart says No Deal but whose head says Deal, so Noel has a lot of influence over the game here. An orange to st... oh, wait, they're not orange anymore, the new graphics are here to stay. Take The High Road? Blinking Nora when did that end? And are there any British daytime soap operas other than Doctors? Does DoND count?

Enough questions, there's only one that matters. This one's a No Deal, but it's practically at January 2007 generosity levels. Air box! It's also a significant blow. Where does she live? Tamworth! Two hundred miles from nearest water... it's a stick.

"Noel talks up the presence of the £250,000 on the board." Uh-oh... it's a stick, and for a cautious player that's almost dealable. Vikki doesn't deal it... first two boxes go perfectly... twenty grand doesn't ruin the round, this is an interesting configuration. According to the Banker, twenty grand is not a 'big one', while £35,000 is. Fifteen... no, thirteen... no, eighteen! I'd turn down fifteen, and thirteen, but eighteen I'm not sure about, and I think she should take this. And she does!

What I'm loving is that these players have spent almost their entire wing runs with an ADP of five-box, and players invariably making disputable gambles beyond that, and then ever since it's reverted to an eight-box ADP, the players haven't gone any further... Noel's doing his best to shame people into going further, though, and I am not happy. Thirty-freaking-eight? I'm glad I watched the footy instead!

HAHAHAHA. Just when the show was turning into a disgraceful advert for gambling again, we get an empty-box incident. Karma. And the jackpot was there, an amusing coincidence, and ten grand in the box secures the TPW. Even Noel wakes up and talks about what the money can do for the player, and that is a long-overdue Happy End.

Hope the trend of the last 3 games isn't going to manifest itself into everyone settling for a deal in the teens at 8-box, we don't want another spring 2008 again (though may be more bearable without the Wakeyist army on the forum any more! :) )

It was arguable either way though, a much bigger offer at 5-box depended on keeping both biggies, though there was fallback if the £250k went.

I think maybe the £38k at 5-box was to encourage people to go on, and also thank goodness the "empty" box was chosen after she'd dealt!

(And another thing that's just struck me today is how similar George and Tina look!)

Sounds like I missed a good show today. Oh well... Speaking of empty boxes, the banker mentioned how David the reverend found an empty box a long time ago. IIRC, they re-shuffled the boxes and forgot that the box would have had the £250,000. Seeing as how no other values were missing from the boxes, why didn't they simply say 'Right, the box should have had £250k in it, so now that value is out of the game'? I never got that. :?

And 10k comes to the table AGAIN. That's four times in 11 shows!
