Lovely as it was, he didn't technically beat the banker.... but let's not dwell into such issues. Really happy that Lofty got an amount of money that was right for him and although he did deal too soon, I've seen plenty of games that have turned into train-wreck situations from similar boards.

Welldone Lofty! I probably would have gone on with that board, but I could tell that it was the right time to deal for you and 18k is alot of money. Enjoy every penny! :-D

I'm just glad he got a decent amount of money, what with the luck some of the other long-standing contestants have had recently.

Very happy for Lofty. His poor partner was so distressed. £18k will make a big difference to them.

Really cheered me up. Now waiting for June's game, would love her to get a good amount as well.

Hard to blame him really - spooked by the succession of train wreck games of late, he was always going to take the first offer that fulfilled his dream no matter what the board. And there was a rather big hole of three in the reds, so even though not one other red had gone he would have been nervous.

What a top bloke - well done Lofty, that was a class game.

Let's hope that some more contestants can come up with such a good show in the next few weeks - loved the enthusiasm he brought with him to the table.

She had both. James would have had 20, but he was ill so she opened it. Her "proper" box was 4.

(Hah, not only was I beaten to it, but I was wrong!)

No, James had 22.

I was doing the Sun crossword while I was watching today's show (OK, during the break of today's show) and guess what the answer to 3 down was? Did they know something we didn't? ;)

nice to see you took the deal that was right for you even if you could have had more on the next two deals. hope your gf has recovered. i think that if she wasnt so upset you probably gone on to the next round.
anyway well done and all the best for the future with your new family and house.

:( I missed it today. Why can't they repeat it in the mornings for those of us who do shift work?

How much did Stevie have in her box today?

£3,000, I think - although it was after the deal so for once they wanted her to have a big number, and she didn't!

I'm new to this forum, even though I've seen most of the games so far.

I agree with the banker who said Lofty was the best player they have had on DOND. His personality has shone through in all the episodes he has been involved in, and like JT and Smiler has been one of the true characters.

It was a very emotional episode, because his girlfriend was in tears right from the start.

In hindsight he dealt too early, but given the recent spate of bad luck he was entitled to expect a wipeout in the next round.

£18,000 was right for them, and I think he did exactly the right thing.

Well done, Lofty. The programme will miss you.
