Not good... this is like a game from last summer with poor offers with £250k on the board, followed by a crash to a blue win. :(

The 9K offer was terrible after a nearly average round - a crash seemed inevitable then. I guess endemol wanted variety after Scott's game.

Only one outcome there looking at the clock... and that's where forcing Wakeyism down players' throats with non-offers makes for really, really bad television.

Sylvie was brave but the offers weren't hard to say no deal to to be honest. It just didn't work out for Sylvie but at least she gave it a go. Bad luck Sylvie!

Completely unavoidable trainwreck. Only seeing the £250,000 stay to the end would have seen it avoided, the Banker played a blinder there...unfortunately the late-2008 generosity on £250,000 5-box boards seemed to have been chucked out the window!

Awe I really wanted her to take 9,000 but she wanted to go right to the end and believed she had 250,000.

Sorry, but games like that are the absolute pits. Games with forced blue wins but where there's the possibility of something huge if the banker gets it wrong (which he did!) that gets snatched away at the very last minute. Plus it'll make the following players more inclined to deal on good boards if they think the banker won't give them a get-out if they leave anything with high volatility. A double whammy as Sylive really didn't deserve that. :(

Reminded me of last summer a lot actually when Reg and Christine 2 days running had similar 5-box boards, Reg got a great offer and dealt and got an OPW, then Christine was forced on, took out the £10k third box and won a fiver. They seemed to want to d it for variety's sake! :(

The outcome was predicted in my house today before the game had reached the final part. After 3 games where the player dealt a bit too early and with Sylvie being the type of contestant where £9k probably wasn't an amount she couldn't afford to lose, she was probably getting odds of 6-1 at the least on a 40% chance. It did seem inevitable (especially with the pacing of the show) that it was all going to go pear shaped.

I'm not going to make any judgements on why he did it but I do concur that the Banker's 5 box offer there was a complete insult and that he should have offered Sylvie a more respectable get out.

There's a cruel irony in that after two games in a row where the player got out too early Syvie ends up playing to the end and crashes.

That aside it was an amusing game, it's a while since we've had a player quite so obsessed with their own mortality, though i'm fairly certain Sylvie isn't the first. Very entertaining banter

What a gutting game, as many have said it was pretty unavoidable given that forcing 5-box offer. Maybe he was trying to get Sylvie to deal it and hope she had the £250,000 to become the equal worst seller (with Tolleck) of the jackpot box.

It was bad banker play which he got away with, which creates the worst kinds of games, but then again it is not his reputation to be nice (at least not all the time), and unfortunately Sylvie was on the wrong end of his evilness today. Shame, as that was an entertaining game right up to the closing stages.

I'm surprised he didn't play on that - an offer of £8,999 would surely have been more appropriate if he wanted to wind her up about the lowest amount the £250k has been sold for. I know it was extraordinary, but I can't help thinking of Doreen's £50,000 offer on 4 blues vs £250k in situations such as this one!

I was surprised too, I thought he'd offer £8,500 and as Noel was asking "deal or no deal?" he'd ring back and play helpful mind games. Why was Doreen given the average on a 4 blues/£250k situation? I just remember the offer, I can't remember the circumstances.

It was mainly because of the belief Doreen had in her box, plus the fact that she'd already turned down a very generous 8-box offer, so the banker was starting to get very concerned. I must admit it did come out of the blue though!

When I spoke to the banker and was trying to get him to increase my 5-box offer, I asked him about Doreen's 5-box offer and why it was so generous, and he said he made it 100% of the mean because he was scared of the belief she had in her box. He said couldn't be bothered making a 100% of the mean offer for me, because he's read my posts on here and knows that I don't believe in my box in the same way Doreen did. I couldn't really argue with him!

I had a feeling Trudi's proposed £8,000 offer at 5-box with £250k and nothing would have been it and an absolute disgrace too, if Paula hadn't piped up about it being £8,000 for each of her 2 kids! :)

And she'd have crashed to pence too.....
