Pauline doesn't think she will keep any of the money for herself, she will probably give it to her grandchildren and the local hospice...

Wow, her £5,000 win felt more like a £50,000 win after that. It was obvious they all wanted her to do really well, so it's great that she managed to get £5,000 out of a game which looked doomed from the start!

A great OPW

Not quite a turnaround of £75k Keran proportions but to go from an 8 blue, 3 red board to end up with 3 reds was a 1 in 165 chance. I think once it got to 2 box, the £3k wouldn't have been a huge disappointment but the OPW was one of those feel good ones.

Amazingly that's the first OPW in a full 3 weeks! Usually there'd be very little difference in feelings about the box reveal on a £5k/£3k finish but not this time becuase this one made the difference between an OPW and an OBW, though I suppose after how the board was looking earlier, anything in the thousands would be a good result. It's true that it certainly did feel like a bigger win than £5k.

I wonder what would have happened if she'd done her grandson's system the other way round? Her last 5 would have been all-red with her box the lowest value - if she was a mad gambling pensioner like some of them are (and on the game she got we'll never know how she'd have played a big-money game), then she'd have probably got the worst possible result instead of the best!
