£30,000 is a lot of money. It's not to be sniffed at. You can do a he|l of a lot of money with £30,000. We're not talking about grains of rice here, we're talking money. Sure, I myself would have played on, but for him, risking £30,000 when there was a chance of £10,000 to be won may have been too hard for him. You can do a lot more with £35,000 and £65,000 (and £100,000) than £30,000, but can you do more with £15,000 than £30,000? A 50:50 chance of winning that if you'd have played on? You've got to think of it as money, and not grains.

Probably would have been to the end of the game for me today - especially with that board, but am pleased for Pezza that he won 30k.

Another one throws away a big chance and it looks like this will the Banker's best week ever! :(

Nom nom nom... :P

I'd have gone on to £65k, but considered £23k more than £30k or £35k... losing the blue would have made me feel less vulnerable to any mental play from the Banker (multiple potential meanings deliberate) and with that sort of security on a £100k-high board I'm generally inclined to chase the game barring a very generous offer.

One thing I would say is that one should never trust someone who has to tell you that they're telling the truth, because inevitably, they won't be, and that was the case here.

£10,000 £15,000 £35,000 £100,000
Average: £40,000

So £30,000 is 3/4s of that. Let's now assume we play on, and assume we'll be offered 3/4 of the average again:

1) £10k £15k £35k
Average: £20,000
Offer: £15,000 (1/2 of previous offer), though i suspect offer would be more like £17,500 here given the board values

2) £10k, £15k, £100k
Average: £41,666
Offer: £30,000 (a stick)

3) £10k £35k £100k
Average: £48,333
Offer: £36,000 (slight increase)

4) £15k £35k £100k
Average: £50,000
Offer: £37,500 (slight increase)

So the offer either drops by a fair amount (25% chance) sticks (25% chance) or increases slightly (50% chance). Obviously on the increase slightly scenario we set ourselves up for the big increase if £100,000 is left until the end. It's interesting that our decision here has to take not only the current offer into account, but also the next offer, and the offer after that.

Having looked at that I'm now more inclined to no deal the £30,000.

But he could've had £70,000 more ;)

I'm not going to bother commenting on the obvious Wakey/Wilson-esque comments that have littered this thread...it was a good £30,000 win which could very easily have gone the other way round on another day.

I'd have taken the £35,000 offer myself, in fear the final box of the round would have been Power 5 territory, resulting in a probable reduced offer

I'm with you there too Big Davey and Skyline, :smt023 30K was clearly just too much to turn down with a baby on the way and work being scarce, he would have felt as much, if not more gutted if he'd left with the 10K than not going onto the end and getting 100K. Was brave to go on after the 23K offer in his situation even though the board was strong, but wow it was an exciting game. 30K is sooo much munny!!!! :-D Under normal play I reckon he would have taken the 23K and not risked opening 3 boxes.

Well done Pezza. For a man in his position (baby on the horizon, little money coming in) £30k was clearly the right decision. At the very least it should tide him over for a while and hopefully work will pick up.

Still there's no denying it was a bittersweet result seeing how he could seemingly do no wrong on that final 5. Personally i would have gone on, maybe not till the end but with the last blue eliminated i would have figured i was odds on for at least one more box

Do admire the way he chose to totally disregard the Banker's mind games in that final round- something the other players this week haven't been able to manage. I do maintain though that if the Banker has looked in one box the best tactic is to open that box straight away and take away his advantage.

Clearly the money meant a lot to him and I am sure has no regrets about it.
Wish him all the best with the new baby.

Clearly he ignored the banker's mind games and went on as he would have done if the banker hadn't looked inside a box.
I have said before that the players should carry on as they would played if there was no mind games.
With the board being as strong as it was I expected him to gone on, which is what a lot of people would have done but £30,000 is not to be sniffed at.

So that's now 3 players who've taken out the £250k first box and had the £100k in it (surprised Noel didn't mention Anna's game when Gazza was present)>

The statistics from 4 box certainly suggested that a gamble was possibly worthwhile but £30k of real money in Pezza's situation and I can't blame him for dealing.

Actually, Pezza is the sixth player to achieve that feat.

Your memory is getting as bad as Noel's...

I just realised that now, if only he had believed in those 5 games, he probably would've turn all Wakey and won £100k

What about the 46 games so far where the £250k was revealed first box and the £100k wasn't on the table? Should he have not believed in those?
