The Banker acknowledges that the £8,800 will really help Michael and his family, and he thinks that Michael is very brave and wonders if he has the guts to give it back!!

The question on all-or-peanuts gambles is whether you can do twice as much with the larger sum on the board as you can with the offer (and in this case, £8,800 is the 'offer').

He probably won't take it on, and I can just about understand him thinking that in his situation. However, I'm looking at this and thinking 'endowment effect'.
