I was lucky and privileged to be in the audience for that game and I have been counting the days till it was shown. Even watching it on TV I was cheering every move and in tears at the end. There was such a lot of it I'd forgotten (including the swap  ) but can you imagine what the atmosphere was like when she said the wrong thing - there had actually been A LOT of discussion with the other contestants and it was obvious she had really intended to say "Deal" - we were in total shock!!!

When we got to the end I doubt there was a dry eye in the place :-D

Also, what you couldn't tell was that this show took more than 3 hours to record due to lighting problems during the first break which delayed things for 1.5 hours. By the time it finished it was well past lunch-time and we were all physically and emotionally drained :smt103

I chatted to Mary in the canteen afterwards and she is the most wonderful lady 8) I hope she and her sons enjoy every penny of her Epic Win :smt023

Correct decision, but out of nowhere! What caused it? An accident, or Noel influencing her?

What Mary said afterwards was that she was staring at the "No Deal" logo in the wings and genuinely got mixed up. Heartstopping stuff!!

Wow what a game! When Noel joked prepared to be shocked at Mary's decision after she said she was going to deal before the question was asked I didn't believe I was literally going to be shocked. It was obvious that Mary had made a mistake and so when they got permission to ask the question again I was fully expecting a deal, but yet again I was shocked.

But Mary's mistake proved to be a blessing as she went on to have the perfect round, finished with a swap and winning £75,000 :-D

The best game this year (ok I know we've only had 4 shows  ). However this is going to go down as one of the classics of 2009 and I think a contender for show of the month.

That was amazing.. I'm so glad I caught that game, even my 12 year old was hooked!

We were shouting, cheering and jumping up and it was almost like watching 100K Gaz's game for me... nearly but not quite ;)

Brilliant, so pleased for Mary... I might even have to start watching again every day now.. I've got the bug back! :-D

Well, that's a new type of contestant... the accidental Wakeyist! There have been a fair number of £75k winners now but none in quite those kind of circumstances.

Some great games on around Christmas as well (though just read there was a 1p winner on Christmas Day  ) and like a few others I've been watching fairly regularly for the first time in ages. About time there was a run like this after a spell of about a year in which you could probably count the classic games on one hand!

Wow!

I didn't expect Mary to be a gambler in the slightest, I thought it was going to be one of those hilarious games with a funny old lady that ended in an average win such as Eunice's - but instead we got funny AND money!! I thought 20k at 5-box and she'd be out of there, which I would have supported even though I wouldn;t have done myself, since with 75k/blue offers like Alexandra's, the only way to guarantee more at 2-box was to keep two of the reds, so I was stunned when she said no-deal, and was even more surprised when the banker allowed her to have a second chance, then even more so when he changed her mind and no-dealt after all! AND - we got someone making a rare correct move on a all-power-5 finish!!!

I was actually cursing the wingers for lettingher pick Box 13 when she was going to skip it and it container the 250k, but if she had she might well have dealt earlier, though as 5 was her lucky number, even with her fateist attitude it would still have gone before 2-box I think.

I'm stunned. Wel done Mary, you're a legend!

I thought of that earlier myself while watching the end on More4. Don't forget Jennifer meant to Deal her £52k five-box offer too, but the difference is she'd already turned down £33k, which was the highest ND of all time back then (how strange does that sound now?!?). Mary was about to take an offer I thought was awful and accidentally didn't because of a feature that wasn't even on the set when Jennifer played, the neon sign!!

Stunning. I started watching in November '07 and it's the best game I've seen. DOND has more 'human interest' than any game show ever invented. Great stuff today.

Wow. Just when you think DOND can't surprise you, you get games like today. I'd have never in a million years had Mary down as a gambler (accidental or not) but to hit the 10% chance at the end and then to have a second all power 5 five finish within a week is amazing.

It will take some game to beat this for game of the month.

Well that was absolutely amazing! I'm stunned.

I always knew that Mary was going to give us a funny game, and she didn't let us down. I haven't laughed at DOND like that for a long while. What I wasn't expecting was what happened.

The "mistake" turned out to be the best she could ever make. It made me laugh when she said "No Deal..I mean Deal!" but what followed made excellent, tense viewing. And then the swap to win £75k, just brilliant!!!

If tomorrow's game is half as good as this, I'll be happy. Mary, you legend.

Final note: This win means the for the 4th month in a row, we have a £75,000 win. All by women coincidentally.

What other game show would have a contestant like Mary? (Possibly Family Fortunes?) That's why dond scores for me over any other game show, and today's game has to be one of, if not the best ever! Congratulations Mary, you are a legend!

I echo everyone else in saying that this was a fantastic game today, for so many reasons! Mary was lovely when I saw her in person last year, and I've been looking forward to her game for months - and it certainly didn't disappoint! She really made it her own game, and she said herself she had the time of her life during her time on the wings.

Who'd have thought we'd get a situation where the 'no deal' wished to be reneged (in effect, she was lucky to get the reprive, as surely the first reply is binding) - but then twisted it around again to let the fates decide, totally against her initial decision, great stuff! Just shows the kind of tension this show can produce unlike other game shows (and why a lot of us keep going back to the dream factory for more!)

I think £20k was a reasonable offer, actually - leaving a blue with any red would make the offer uncertain (anything from 7k for leaving 35k to 20-25k for leaving 75k maybe), so you're depending on the 30% of the power 5 finish (which she got). If you're committed to the end, the odds look more attractive at 60% of a power 5 in the box, though. Arguable with 2 blues left, I would say.

One thing's for sure - it's a lot more generous than Alex's identical offer with £20k, £35k and £250k remaining (62% of mean compared to 33% if you're asking).

Anyway, well done Mary - time to treat the grandchildren now... :P
