Banker's offer would've been:

£250

Noel opens box 19 and reveals £1,000

Jane opens box 13 and reveals £10

Wow, he'd have got the OPW from the second-offer Deal he gave more thought to than it warranted!

I think I'd have Wakeyed it but it's a good job he didn't!

First of all, many thanks to Tom22 for the commentary today :)

Gary was a delightful fellow and I enjoyed the banter, newbie Lauren looks like she will be a good laugh in the days to come and the same can be said for Jean

Money-wise, went at the right time and enjoy every penny of the 4k, Gary :)

Kind of a hard-luck game today, but at least Gary managed some to salvage some good money out of it. Congrats, and enjoy the £4,000 :) !

Only just caught the end of that, so had to recap what the boarrd was like at the time of his highly-considered 10k offer (too good a board and too early to go really), and the offers just hovered around the mid 4-figures from then on, so the game didn't seem to go very far. I'd have liked an extra £1,000 on the offer he took to deal, but can't really criticise him for it as there was only one box worth much more than the deal. And again, I was pleased to see him be very grateful and happy for what he did win rather than regretting what he turned down earlier, and truly positive about the whole DOND experience.

The dreaded Box 13 never seems to have much in when people keep it to the end! :)

An alright show, nothing really memorable about it. Had Gary actually taken the second offer he seriously considered then it would have been. I suspect we may have seen a third offer deal had Gary had a good round prior to the third offer.

There were some good comedy moments though, such as, the glasses Gary gave the Banker, Noel's hissy fit.

We also seem to have quite a selection of unique style box openers at the moment. Such as Rich who rips the seal off (hence why Noel calls him a "plaster ripper") and Stan and his way of opening the boxes.

Nice to have reds left in the second half of the game for a change. At the time, the deal wasn't a bad one and it turned out to be the right decision.

Pretty mediocre game, which would have indeed been more memorable had he dealt at the 2nd offer, which apparently he strongly considered. I'd like to see one player do this, if only to see the shocked reaction from Noel, the contestants and the pilgrims (especially if it turned out to be an OPW!), although it seems that Noel has prepared himself for that eventuality tomorrow. But only 2 people (the other being Dot) have really considered going, so I can't see it happening.

I think it's mostly 'pilgrim pressure' that stops players going at this point, and they feel they're not providing enough of an entertaining game, but a 4 round proveout would surely have plenty of twists and turns to keep the game interesting, provided the offer taken isn't too stingy (or too generous for that matter), so the game result remains in the balance.

An immediate collapse leading to an OPW or a great round leading to an OBW is actually the worst kind of result there because viewers probably won't hang around for the 3rd part, and Noel would have a lot of empty space to fill up with interest for essentially a finished game. It would probably be quite fun in the studio, but I don't think it would translate well to TV.

I've thought for some time now that a player would deal at the 2nd offer. Today I really thought it was going to happen! I still think it's going to happen one of these days.

Not the most memorable of games though I did like Gary's gift for the Banker, a pair of "mirror" glasses that allowed him to see what was going on behind him - and which led to the sacking of Pennyworth the Butler. :smt046

Enjoyed the opening too - Noel went up the East Wing getting various players to repeat the shows current mantra "It's not how you start it's how you finish" almost inevitably finishing on Lisa, who never did quite get the words out.

After Gary hit the £250k i don't think he ever really recovered, he spent the next two or three rounds trying to claw some money back out of the game but luck wasn't with him and in the end he got out just in time. I like the fact he was honest about almost dealing at the second offer especially as it would have been the perfect deal. I really can't imagine how a show where that happens would be edited - when a player deals at the 3rd offer they throw in a break before the proveout but as the second offer is only one box into the second segment of the show that might prove more difficult.

Surprised no-one has mentioned the newbie Lauren, she certainly made an impression, not sure yet if she's going to be funny or annoying but i notice she's in Nutter's corner - bottom of the East Wing has produced more eccentrics (good and bad) than any other space.

I seriously doubt anyone would dare deal the 2nd offer regardless of the proveout they would get alot of backlash for not playing the game and just coming to grab the easy money and run!

I do think though had the 250k stayed he would have ran at the 3rd offer!

Wrong. Our very own bushy admitted that he only turned down his second offer because of the lure of the top prize and the pressure to put on 'more of a show'.

In other words, that. And if one of the best analytical players in the history of the game can be sucked in by the way the game has been defined, who the hell won't be? We will never see a second-offer Deal. We will see more people who turn down the second offer against their true preferences and goes on to win less. We've already had three, two of which would have been OPWs, the third (Dot) being on for that until a two-box hypothetical lie which these days would be a Banker's Gamble.

Quote:

Quite! All three four-round proveouts we could and should have had by now would have (hypothetical lies notwithstanding) reached five-box with an OPW and OBW still on. People are going to tune in for that, whether it's to be Noel-esque and hope for an OBW, or to be KP-esque and hope for an OPW and perhaps a chance to laugh at Noel...

Probably. But the former would be very rare (an early-deal OPW is more likely to come from a stream of big hits that kept the offers below the Deal, like, well, Gary's could have been) and the latter, well, we know how easily Noel could fill this part of the show with a guilt trip... wrong kind of entertainment but it'd ensure a 45-minute show at least! He could probably deliver a five-minute guilt-trip monologue leading to the adbreak if he had to...

After the time he took to make the decision at the second offer, I was convinced he was going to be a third-offer dealer. He exceeded my expectations and well done to him for that. Although had the board been better, he may have done?

An alright game, as people have said, not overly memorable.
