When he dealt at £9,000, I was thinking this was the game I'd heard spoilers about and it turns out it was.

And there it is - our first four-figure sale of the jackpot. A huge symbolic moment for the Banker.

It's not the worst deal ever - I can confidently call it conservative, but cowardly is unfair here. Indeed it would almost have been cowardly to be sucked in by the jackpot and the host... I'd have gone just the one round more.

Full applause to The Banker. Having someone dealing for 3.6% of the highest box value. I am confident that the American Banker or Walter P Smythe have never got it that low in relation to the dealt value/box (case) value ratio.

No, the lowest the US Banker got the $1,000,000 case for was $83,000, which is 8.3% of the case value.

This show had disaster all over it someone who was clearly a targetist and also I too heard someone sold the 250k for 9k and I honestly thought the only way anyone would be so stupid or slightly justifiable is on a 4 blue and 250k finish.
This was beyond excusable with a board like that with 35K back up!! The offer in my opinion was terrible and he paid for his foolishness!

Banana Sandwich as mark would say and sorry but that was just a dreadful cop out today!

Well this was only the second DOND episode I've watched in months - the other one being the spectacular collapse game in Halloween week, Tony was it? I certainly know how to pick them!

When I heard he was Russian I immediately thought of 2p Igor, and sure enough he made unwanted history as well! What was the previous record for selling the quarter million, was it still £15k? I wonder what Wakey, Basicasic and SrWilson would have said about this one...

For the record, I never trust Wiki! ;)

I liked today's game a lot - Tolleck's story was touching to say the least! Some good banter with Lisa and Vincenzo once again...them two rapidly becoming my favourites on the show at the moment.

It has been quoted in the spoilers section for months now that we was heading for a £9,000 jackpot blow...so for me once he dealt, I could tell what was going to happen. But that did not stop this game being a good one! It will certainly be a talking point for a while to come yet!

Melanie sold it for £10,000 back in September...that was the record until today.

Tolleck was a really really nice guy and i really wanted him to do well. The board when he dealt could have gone either way and £9,000 meant a lot to him so i cant blame him for dealing. If he lost the £250k he would have had to have gone to the end for anything near that offer again! He was not wanting to risk it and i dont blame him. It was just unfortunate he had the £250k in his box!

£9,000 is a lot of money and i really hope he enjoys it!

I'm sure he will but his kids probably won't.

He said he will end up making 100x what he won once he opens his museum, so what goes around comes around...:)

Even that was in 2007 but we had a 6% sale in June 2006. That Banker is one clever b*****d.

It also helps that we have an isolated top prize and three-box rounds all the way to the end. The US Banker has an ultra-stable board and one-case-to-open rounds, and Walter has the latter as well. It's definitely not like-for-like - the Banker here has massive, massive advantages over some others.

Something I've been :ponder:-ing for a while now, since reading the spoiler about this game...

What if Beryl brought the £250,000 to the table in her game? Imagine back then, the lowest amount the £250,000 was sold for was £3,100!

Karma can bite you in the goolies sometimes ay?

I've thought this since I first saw the show - there's so much riding on the one box, the odds of actually winning it really aren't much at all! Sure you can win a lot more than you would on other game shows, but the top prize? Really not in the player's favour.
