Hang on I've just realised he wanted the money for a holiday? When there was a 1 in 2 chance that he'd win a holiday at 5-box anyway...

Well, that's a defeat for Noel and the Banker's desire for every game to go to five-box this week, and that's about all I can honestly say...

The fact that they didn't do the trick / treat stuff in proveout is rather strange too, but Noel has always said that if the player gets to 5-box in play then they get to open the coffin / gravestone / extra boxes etc...

Hmm... I thought that too. I thought Noel would liked to have rubbed it in a bit more if he picked a Treat with an offer after each box.

It'd have made more sense to open the trick / treat boxes and if it was a treat, say where Chris would've won the holiday to, and then give a proveout offer after every box. If it had been TRICK then the banker could've made really high proveout offers to scare Chris into thinking he had a high red in his box.

Indeed... TRICK can then be justified as the source of inflated proveout offers (he's done it before, he can do it again) and this time he'd have been half right!

(Offer bang on the mean at five-box and an AMO at two?)

Weak deal today, whoever predicted yesterday we would see cautious deals as of today wasn't far wrong :( And the week started off so well with Whitey on Monday

Very monotonous game and not one I personally don't think will be remembered in months to come

First time ever I have seen someone deal before 5 box on one of these special shows and it really killed the atmosphere when he dealt

It was a very boring game to see recorded as he took ages choosing each box even after he had dealt

Noel was trying to lift the atmosphere but it was such a let down on what should have been an exciting game.

The lady with the "nose" they kept showing was a good laugh. She was just across the aisle from me.

The smoke took ages to clear as the machine blew it in ok but didn't want to suck it out :laughing

Wrighty got one to open and dealt before 5-box as well, and they actually went throught with it that time (though he w as guaranteed it whereas Chris was only 50:50 on getting it).

I thought dealing was a mistake, as was not taking the banker's gamble with 3k guaranteed (3k would have still got him the hoilday wouldn;t it, unless my idea what a holiday costs has gone up loads recently?) but I found it completely understandable after having to come on after Pammy and Tony. Indeed I predicted it in yesterday's thread.

I thought the whole proveout was silly as the banker has to "play on with honesty" so unless he wouldn't have let Chris pick a trick or treat, he did exactly the opposite of that. :(

But 8k is good money anyway, and he seemed happy enough, and not too bothered that he could have had more, so a much happier outcome than the last two games.

Oh and I didn't even find Chris the most amusing "miserable" contestant - Brian (4) beat him by miles, as did Trev!! :)

It's just a shame that Chris didn't play yesterday as we'd have probably had a wonderful £35k OPW instead of the trainwreck we actually had.

A bizarre decision of a deal but understandable after yesterday's game.

Not one of my favourites either, you could sense a lack of atmosphere because of how fast the game seemed to be going at one point. But once the clock wound down and we was still at 8-box, I was stunned to see a first for the show; not getting to see the added twist!

That Banker's Gamble was the second-easiest one I've ever seen, apart from Semi's. But obviously that additional £5,000 meant a hell of a lot to him and his wife, so fair play there.

I was so expecting Karina today, I am sort of glad it was not her, as she only had £750 in her box, a reasonable game though, I think about 15 years ago i used to have a regular taxi driver called chris, and I believe he had a moustache. I thought when he chose Andrea today, I thought the newbie was about to come, as i thought he said Angela.

There's only one taxi driver called Chris with a moustache, so it must be the DOND contestant.

Well they did have a joke about how many of the pilgrims might well have already known him! :P

He seemed popular, no doubts there. But the game just lacked enthusiasm, especially after Geraint's box was opened...

I just saw his game I have to say it was a bit flat and boring the deal was very poor especially in light of the 5 box trick treat thing but declining bankers gamble on a easy finish like that was even worse.

I'm sorry but how do these sort of people ever get through the auditions, a game and contestant totally dull and lacking any personality, that incredible weak deal at 8 box was the ultimate bad moment in a truly awful show.
What a disasterous week it's been in every way.

I couldn't believe it when he didn't take the Banker's gamble. Thought he was silly dealing so early anyway, but not taking the gamble was just ridiculous with those two amounts left.

Dissapointing game, I was a little surprised when he dealt at 8 box because as others have noted he would have had a 50/50 chance of winning a holiday at 5 box anyway, and with the benefit of hindsight even if the twist hadn't worked in his favour he could have walked away at that point with more than enough for a car and a holiday.

That's the first time in ages i've considered the Bankers gamble to be worth a punt as well.

Don;t know if Chris lost his nerve or why he folded when he did but it was his decision and to be honest i can't begrudge him £8,000, that's still a fair wedge of money in anybodys language, I know it would make a difference to my bank balance right now

I actually think that post (as is most of what you've written Wendy!!) is very refreshing in that most contestants won't hear anything said against another contestant - as long as its constructive critism! :)
