Gary gave it a go which was entertaining, but he was unlucky. The odds were against it looking a smart decision though. It's interesting that a number of players who have had the 100K and 250K at the 8 box stage with 6 relatively low amounts have all been offered around £20,000, and then seen things crash. The odds are that no dealing at that stage, you have a 64% chance of taking out at least one of the 100K and 250K which would mean that the banker's offer would probably be less, then at 5 boxes left you would have a 60% chance of taking out the other big number if you chose to go on if you had not already done so. So better to have dealt at 21K in that scenario.

And a 10.7% chance of doing what he did and hitting both.

Hitting them with the next two boxes was a one-in-28 shot.

Bad result :( . That's all I have to say...

(Is it just me going mad, or did anyone else notice that the opening titles seemed to be really slow? :? )

Thats just wrong. Hes not bring greedy. You see, you wouldnt call a £250,000 winner greedy would you? Exactly. Always when the gamble pays off no one calls the person greedy but when it goes wrong they do.

Couldn't have put it better myself wakey, well said. :D

Thanks, Kes :) Thought i was on my own ;)

I think that's the ultimate nightmare board as far as tough decisions go.

I would PROBABLY have taken the £21,000 but not 100% sure. I certainly don't think I could deal for less than £20,000 with the £250,000 still there (except perhaps if it was the only red with 8 boxes left!)

The only thing I can think of to say about today's game is "Lucky White Heather".

Poor man must be the unluckiest person I've seen for a long time.

Gary's system was so obvious that it hardly needs stating, does it?

Okay, then. He started with the newcomer, and then moved four places to the right each time. This would have worked better if he'd have chosen a number that was coprime with 22, instead of 4, which isn't.

Show how observant I am! :D

It was a big gamble to turn down £21,000, and feel bad it didn't work out for Gary. He played it very well, and it's a real shame he didn't take home more.

I suppose if someones going to win the big money they will have to take a gamble like that somewhere along the line. Just unfortunate this one didn't work out.

This is very true Maltus, you just have to go back to last week and the game Gaz played. He gambled on until the end and produced an amazing turnaround and fantastic win :D

I know the offer Gaz had at the end of round 4 (£3,000) wasn't anywhere near the offer Gary received at the end of his round 4 (£21,000) so the decision for Gaz was probably a lot easier and more people could accept that gamble.

It's a shame the gamble didn't pay off, but that's the nature of the game and it certainly provides drama and entertainment. How soon would people start complaining about the show and labelling it boring if all the contestants suddenly went into 'safe-mode' and just started accepting reasonable offers every game and not taking a few risks on the way?

Indeed - the fact that every player sees the board differently makes the game as exciting as it is. Essentially the Banker realises that and gives offers that will make that particular player think about playing on. If everyone played it safe at the first sign of trouble people would have stopped watching months ago.

What's it gonna be tomorrow then Einstein?? Minus 2?!

Sorry for working out a pattern! I'm surprised none of the Contestants have spotted it.

I'm sure I heard Buzz say (unbleeped) "s**t or bust" towards the end of this game, when Gary was considering the final offer and walked over to the final box (which was with James in Raj's slot) - did anyone else catch this?
