In answer to SrWilson, yes there are quite a few of us that gamble right to the end. I am a gambler and this was my one chance of winning some proper money, so I was going for it whatever. There are (and will always be) some people who have a figure in mind and when they reach it, they stop. It wouldn't do for us all to be the same though would it. There are also some people who, having seen previous gambles fail, take what they consider a good offer and would have gone on to win much more.

Sorry Tricky, what I meant was that we all thought that was the end of the show and we were all waiting for the re-takes bit when the phone rang. It was a shock for everyone, Noel included. Believe me, they were all genuine spontaneous reactions.

And for what it's worth, I believe both the 'gambler' and 'target' attitudes are deeply flawed as both are at the expense of analysing the board. In my opinion, that's what we need to see - people who recognise stingy offers (and reject them) and also recognise generous offers and perhaps accept them!

The show's much more interesting for having variety - gamblers provide dramatic games if their luck holds out late into the game, more conservative players ensure those games don't become over-familiar. Not knowing what a player will do - and thinking about what you'd do yourself - makes good telly in my book. I'm glad to hear there seems to be some sort of variety coming, let's just hope these 'gambles to the end' aren't all enforced blue wins like, erm, yesterday's...

I agree KP.
When I used to watch the show before I even knew I was going on, me and my husband used to argue all the time about what we would do if it was either of us playing. When you actually get there, it's so different. I think everybody thinks they are going to win huge sums of money. You forget that there are more small wins on the whole. And even when you see some awful games like Nikki's, you still don't think that it will happen to you. A lot of people change once they get in the crazy chair but hopefully you will enjoy some of the games I was there for, it was truly an emotional roller coaster.
