Good god, I was convinced Matt, Barbara, Connell and Jim were going to have some more company there...instead we get the BEST swap the game's ever had - the first time anyone's actually swapped for a power 5 box at the end of the game! SO glad it paid off too - it was exactly what the banker deserved for that £9,500 offer! That felt so much better than if he'd had the 50k all along too! Well done Jon!!! :D

I actually thought he had the 1p for a long time - the board was so like Sheran's from 8-box, and it seemingly could not be found!

Jon I thought you won £1000. You said in some other post you got no winnings! Anyway, enjoy £50K. What have you bought with it so far?

What a fantastic game. The best this season by miles.

Jon was a chirpy kind of guy and played the game with a great sense of adventure. I liked the way he brushed aside the derisory third offer and wasn't tempted to deal the £17500 at the 4th with a decent board still in front of him. He was brave again at 5 box and the tension started to build as he tried to find the 1p. I jumped out of my seat when he found it.

The final offer was a disgrace and dismissed with the contempt it deserved. No messing. No dithering. The swap was inspired and the final result a fitting and deserving triumph for a courageous player.

Brilliant mate. Enjoy the money.

I think it could well be one of the games of the year never mind this season!

It was fantastic, great to see such determination shine through and the £50k at the end. That'll teach the banker lol

The banker messed up big time. To offer a poker player £9.5K at 2-box was stupid. Any poker enthusiast (especially one who watches Sky Poker) will know about pot odds (i.e. when deciding whether to match a bet someone else has placed - you check the ratio of the bet to what is available in the pot).

This was the equivalent to odds of about 4.75-1 on a coin flip, which any poker player would call automatically.

Yep Sky Poker provides great advice for those new to the game - I have been known to play the odd-game with them.
Seriously though pot-odds vs offers from the banker need to be given the same consideration !!!

Although had it been £50K v 1p, I guess you'd have to take the 1p into consideration. It's equivalent to going all in to having a few chips left even if you lose.

Just to put it into another context, that was about the same generosity as Laura's offer.

(Laura's was £45,000 on £3k/£250k, of course; that's almost exactly Jon's finish multiplied by five, and £5k/£250k on the same generosity is an offer of, um, £47,500.

Jon, would you have taken £47,500 with £5,000 and the quarter-million as your final two?)

For sure. That ranks up there with Lynne (last November), Graeme and Barry as one of the best games I've ever watched.

Yep £50k vs 1p is a slightly different proposition ! I might have taken an offer of £9.5k !!! Still it's a game of luck at the end of the day (taking away the decisions with the offers of course) !
Feel exhausted having actually watched it - never mind what it was like on the day :-D

It comes down to the luck of the boxes to determine the situation, and then how the Banker reacts to the situation and how you react to the Banker.

The Banker completely misjudged that situation (and you), and wow, I'm so glad it backfired for him! That's what I enjoyed about the game, not so much that it went to the big finish but how the Banker completely misjudged it and paid for it.

Up there with Chantelle, 50K Lynn, Doug etc!

seriously though this game felt unique the way Jon played it and him turning the tables on the mean banker.

I'm pleased to hear you all enjoyed it. I don't think it was my initial intention to have a dual with the banker however circumstances seemed to dictate. It was a perfect way to end the game and I would always encourage people not to be too scared of swapping their boxes if they feel it's right - ultimately if you can live with it being the 'wrong' decision then go for it ! I would have been gutted missing out on £8.5k however the regret would have been far worse if I hadn't taken the 'risk'. Hope this clears up a few things ???
Thanks once again for all your positive posts - much appreciated ! :D
