I dunno what to say, really, other than how DAMN AWESOME that was!!! It's amazing to see players who were on the wings when I was a pilgrim (Maria being one who was in all three I saw) doing well, but she did REALLY well, couldn't believe she turned down that £35k, but then she kept the £250k there and played the perfect game...biggest winner on the 8th by a big margin, beating JT's £39,000!

Really really REALLY well done, Maria, I hope luck like that continues in the final week before the break! Although then again, Buddy won £50k at a similar point last year and we had four blue wins including two 1pers...hopefully better luck this time!

And another thing that struck me - when was the last good game on a Sunday, with the exception of Eric? I think we're going back into April! :D

Let's see:
1/7 - Frazer £1
24/6 - Steve 10p
10/6 - Pauline (2) £1,600
3/6 - Renee £1,000
27/5 - Sarah £7,500 (early deal, £100k in box)
20/5 - Lynn £1,000
13/5 - PJ 1p (+£15,000)
6/5 - Pauline (1) £6,000
29/4 - Kath £10,000 (OPW) - that just about counts I suppose!
22/4 - Theresa £250
15/4 - Penny (1) £5,000
8/4 - David £20,000 (£100,000 in box)
1/4 - Joe (1) £17,500 (OPW) - or maybe this one!

So two moderate OPW's is about the best we can come up with, for the last really big win on a Sunday you're going back to Porno Jane in February!

Absolutely wonderful game - very exciting, my personal opinion is that she should've dealt at the 5-box stage what with her family and everything, but unlike basicasic who would flame someone for not doing as he would, I'm going to respect Maria's decision and say that I was eating my meal whilst watching this show and I nearly got a stomach ache due to the tension!! She provided one of the most tense games for ages, probably since Rodney's and definitelt Graeme's.

I was worried she'd no deal the £75,000 as I guessed she wouldn't win the £250k as it hadn't been spoiled in the press... but there was a small part of me wondering if indeed she did win the £250k!

Well done Maria and enjoy the money!

Oh and something else I forgot to mention - did anyone else think that Brian sounded like Fred Dibnah on the LTL voiceover? He also sounded a bit like Jimmy Saville at one point! Is that the first time he's done the LTL voiceover? I think he's done it before but I'm not sure... either way, today was the first time I paid attention to him doing it and noticed what he sounded like, or rather who he sounds like!

I am so glad she no dealed 35k and showed some grit and she was rewarded =).
I guess the producers are in no hurry for another 250k winner since she was given a more reasonable offer for Lauras final pair.
Im happy she got 75k just irritated her husband kinda urged her to take it when she was clearly thinking of going on.
Ultimately had she said no deal it would have been a safe bet she woulda won 3k. So well done Maria :D these are games I enjoy.

If Maria had been given a Laura like offer and she dealt I woulda slapped my forehead at her stupidity. Luckily that did not occur, and lucky for her husband the 250k wasn't there.

So we really do have someone who would rather have seen her go to the end and win £3,000 after all... still, I suppose you should never be too surprised at anything you see on this forum!

I hope thats not directed at me? Im not stupid like this wakey fool I keep hearing of lol.

I said im glad for her she dealt and got 75k it was a smart move with the board I just wish the husband didn't interfere and she could have either made the decision alone or gone on for it.

Fair enough if I misunderstood you, I thought you were saying she should definitely have gone on as £3,000 was a decent fallback, but reading it again perhaps that wasn't what you were trying to say!

Ah thats ok sorry if came over wrong.
I'm a gambler and I woulda dealt at 75K too 3k is not enough, ive always said if I had 20/35k minimum I would gamble for the 250K.

What I was trying to say is im glad she got 75K but I could just tell she was really tempted to try for the 250K and I just think if she really wanted to have a go, her husband should have stayed out of it and let her make her own mind up completly. Even if it had been the wrong call which it woulda been.

Ultimately the best scenario woulda been she decided to go for it we all expect the 3k to be there and then she HAS 250K :-D that would be a perfect ending and none of us woulda seen it coming.

I understand what you're saying there, but they were obviously there to win the money for their children's future and it was a decision they had to make together. I thought Maria's husband was one of the better partners I've seen on the show. I didn't think he put a great deal of pressure on her to deal or no deal, he simply helped keep her feet on the ground. I can imagine that it would be easy to get carried away in that situation.

Anyway, that was definately the best game in ages. Congrats Maria.

Yer I know he wasnt that much interfering but you could clearly see in Marias eyes and speech she clearly wanted to try for the big one for her kids.

Her Husband was almost pleading for her to deal for his sake as well as the kids  after all he be more annoyed about losing 75K than having 250K in the box after dealing, where as she was the opposite ....comedy seriously though all I'm saying is if she adamently wanted a go he coulda said his reservations as he did but said if she really wanted to go for it he would support her and loves her no matter what kinda thing but just be careful.

And then if she dealt fair enough because then she wouldnt feel like shes defying her family if she didn't if you get me.

I was kinda hoping Noel was gonna let him open the box after she dealt to prove they never had it.

Was a great game anyway thanks to no spoilers :D.
