Noel says was it Bodie's turn to have the life changing money?

Noel runs through the rules of the banker's gamble, and says this will be based on Bodie's beliefs. Noel says no-one who wins life-changing money has done it the easy way.

Bodie says NO DEAL

He keeps the £16,000.

Bodie's girlfriend thought that 'no deal' meant he was going for it and she had a panic :p  Bodie says he still believes he has a big one but wasn't willing to risk £16,000 on it.

Bodie has £5 in his box 9.

All the other contestants rush over to Bodie to congratulate him! Noel goes over to Vikki who's waiting to open her box!

Box 22 with Vikki contains the £50,000

Noel reveals that he'd predicted that Bodie would pick box 22, and he thought that's where the £50,000 was!

Only just??? When he dealt, there was a 2/3 chance of an OPW, assuming the banker wasn't going to over-inflate a 2 box offer.

Tough decision at 4-box but the £6k increase was probably worth the gamble.

Those green boxes are trouble - almost 80% of the power 5 amounts revealed this week have been in the green coloured boxes (the odd numbers) - and the 250k and 100k has been in a green box every day so far (I will say though that it is a random game though, before KB says it's suspicious)

Oh god, thought it wasn't on today, and just looked on here and saw the commentary. It's not looking good though.

Not looking at the outcome though, although ok, I just panned up and see he dealt, so I guess I kind of have. Oh well.

Is it just me or does his girlfriend look very similar to Freddie's granddaughter?

An amusing and worrying coincidence at the end, but a pleasant ending in the end; after some entirely undeserved OBWs of late, the least the Banker could do was allow a TPW to turn into an OPW.

Funny how Noel made an apparent intervention at 4-box and a genuinely questionable No Deal followed, then he kept his mouth shut, pledged impartiality, and a Deal followed. Funny that.

When's Miljoenenjacht coming back?

These games with the 5 box twist actually seem to fit the 1 hour format more comfortably than 'normal' shows, though it helped that Bodie found the Santa not the Scrooge allowing for extra offers.

Thought that was going to be a trainwreck at one point but that was a nice little turn around in the second half, and given how precarious his board was Bodie did well to hold his nerve as well as he did.

A nice little game to lead us into Christmas, but what is it with the current 22 and pitch invasions - any half decent result and they can't wait to get out there and pat the player on the back. If any of them win the big one i can see them tearing the studio down in their excitement

Well played Bodie! Worked very hard for his 16k. Which at one point looked miles away with a seemed decimated board after a few rounds. I laughed when his girlfriend misread his swap answer and panicked thinking his was going for it! :laughing

However enjoy your money and your holiday! :smt114

Ok, first of all:
*Stop cutting to Franny at every possible opportunity. I'm sure he's a lovely guy but I'm sick of the sight of him now. This happened a couple of years back when we kept getting huge closeups of Toni.

*Stop the contestants from doing pitch invasions every single show. When Gaz won £100k it was one of the greatest, most joyous moments in DOND history. Laura's £250k it worked, Maria's £100k it sort of worked...if they do it every single time it's ruining it, a fairly average OPW does not equate a celebration of Gaz proportions. Eventually they'll have pitch invasions of consolation for 1p wins. It's getting silly.

But I'm being a Scrooge so I'll stop there. Very entertaining game for Christmas Eve, was wondering at one point how on earth they were going to stretch it out to an hour with all those reds going, but good to see him win a decent amount. I could see the Banker's Gamble coming the moment he said 'Deal' but he got an OPW all the same, so well done to him.

Merry Christmas all!

I think the regular 'pitch invasions' started a few months ago when someone won a Power 5 sum from their box (can't remember who now) following a long run of bad games. That was understandable then, but they're doing them rather a lot these days! I don't think Noel likes them much (as he has to move out the way to avoid being flattened), so I suspect they may be told to reserve them for Power 5 box wins only.

I think this is my favourite of all the themed weeks they've done so far. The Christmas themes they've done before (1930s last year and Victorian in 2007, I think) didn't feel very Christmassy, so it's great to see them all dressed up as elves this year! I think the studio looks a bit like 'Santa's workshop' anyway due to all the wood, so it works really well.

The costumes and make-up are good too, as you can still see what the contestants look like (unlike the Halloween and Banker Birthday Week specials, when the make-up and costumes virtually anonymised the contestants). The gameplay is also interesting, and could lead to many unexpected twists and turns....

Am I right in saying that this is also the longest themed 'week' ever, with a total of 9 shows?

Was it little Geordie Laura when she won 35k?
