I agree Daniel, a lot of this thread is essentially saying "How DARE she get a spanking"!! :)

Mind you, there'd also be people complaining if she'd been offered £40k on the same board, dealt and had the £250k in her box as well.

Anyone who would complain about a +90% mean offer at 11 box being dealt needs to be shot.

When was the last time the Banker offered £30k+ at 11-box?

Nick from last February, maybe?

I think it was in Nick's game in February 2012. Nowadays it's unheard of to get offered £30k at 8 box, let alone 11 box.

I certainly wouldn't complain about that. A 3rd offer above £20k is understandably viewed as a job well done to some people, and I respect that. I get furious, though, when someone turns down the 1st offer just to Deal a similar offer on a significantly stronger board at 11 box (i.e. Iris  :smt019 ). That's an insult to all those who applied who want to play the game, as they choose a Class A coward who had zero chance of winning big money and refuse to read the board over them.

I really miss periods like mid-2006 where most contestants played the game with sensible bravery and there was a few sprinkles of Wakeyists and cautious contestants. Nowadays, well over half the players are very cautious.

They never, ever answer any question which refers directly to their angst. Seriously, none of the usual culprits have clarified a word that explains their motive for posting the aggravated autopilot messages or why they continue watching a show that serves as a daily reminder that their anger management course was fruitless. We've tried for years.

Yes. I can only recommend leaving the show to them - I mean, look how far I've come in 5 years and 5 months of exile! I used to really struggle with anger and ---- ah, oh, wait. Yeah, maybe it didn't solve anything then. :smt009

Still, my underlying message should be clear....if it's a cause of great stress and a trigger of your anger, don't watch it. Not unless you want to try the "head on, 4-3-2-1 and ram yourself into the door" method of tackling your problems, which is marvelous, but then you'd have to recognise every moment when you're about to "flip" or "blow" or whatever other word you want to use, and pinpoint that moment and focus everything on not reacting at that point. Which, if unsuccessful, could have catastrophic consequences for you on this forum and only makes you feel worse for not being able to see "the point where it all went amok" as it were.

I'd also suggest avoidance of watching the show for our resident whingers. I really do believe it'll help. You can keep up with the commentaries the same as I do, so your daily fix will be seen to, no problem. I've certainly had no problem just reading these commentaries, in fact I much prefer it to when I did watch.

Yes. It's a wide world out there. To those who endlessly nag, switch off your televisions, and go on an adventure.

Mark, switch off the TV, and do find an awesome hobby. :hehe

BankerSpanker, haul yourself from that sofa, give that TV a rest it deserves and... go to a spa. That should calm your spirits. Hey, it's better than anger management classes. :smt102

American Coupon Boy, go see a baseball game, live... or something. At least you can, relatively easily... compared to this darned place and its indifference to baseball :smt011 :smt019

Just some friendly recommendations, people. :smt023

:suspect:

One is saved by one's distinct lack of knowledge of the definition of a "fish pedicure". One must assume that this entails providing a fish with a pedicure; something which would, at one's first glance, appear impossible.
However, it should be noted that one is not currently wearing one's glasses, so of this, one cannot be absolutely sure.

When did this thread become dictionary corner? :blueponder

Anyway, the point of a commentary is to provide a balanced view of a program. Me, Mark, and Banker Spanker provide a critical view to balance out the neutral and supportive views of other commentators. I'm positive that without us the commentaries would be dull and boring to many readers.

But there's no amusement behind any of it, all of it is just perpetual tedium and consistently predictable. If you really want to provide comical and contrary viewpoints to the commentator's neutrality, then take a look at some of my old posts from about November - January. I did a fine job of rattling the cages. I consider myself to be a *beep*ing genius.

Obviously you haven't looked up critical in the dictionary, it's definition is not 'to whinge'.

Are commentaries supposed to be entertaining? :ponder:

I'm also positive that without the negativity from the usual suspects, the commentaries would be much more delightful to peruse. As it is right now, my first thought upon seeing any controversial decision is "How many :smt011 and :smt019 faces am I going to see when ACB or BankerSpanker complain?" instead of "Wow, that wasn't something I would do, but let's hope it works out!" I would much rather be able to freely think the latter instead of instinctively coming up with the former for each and every offer/decision/word/breath/syllable/box/pixel.

I'm not sure ACB made good use of his one shot at explaining on behalf of himself, Mark and BankerSpanker there.
It's a bit of a wasted chance really, a trick missed....but, that's the explanation he gives us.

I don't know if I'd call it "critical"; if you want critical, take a glance at some of the posts of KP, Simon, StatsMan or even - occasionally - myself. We don't agree with a lot of what goes on, but provide our criticism of what we disagree with in a constructive way and we always (mostly :P ) manage to balance it with at least one positive note.

In fact I think the same goes for all of us here who aren't "whiners" as we've so-ostracised the three mentioned above. And we really have, let's not shy away from that. They're being cast out, which isn't good.

IMO there's a place here for ACB, Mark, BankerSpanker et al. They're good forum members who do contribute, and are worthy of some level of respect. I'm willing to show them respect in spite of their dire performances in these threads, and I would insist that we all do the same so that we don't end up creating "clicks" of "us" and "them", which we're in danger of doing. But to "them" I say come on. It won't take that much effort to stop and think for a few seconds before you click "submit". Yeah, it'll mean your post isn't submitted immediately after the event you disagreed with, but no one really cares about that anyway.

Mad Mark became Hawker5ive. daniel123 became....well, daniel123  but you know what I mean. Wakey, Ian Walsh, SrWilson, Redrum et al became dust. I trust that the "whiners" here won't have to arrive at that point before they realise just how easy it would have been to contribute to that positive atmosphere I went on about in Members' Off Topic....rather than add to an increasingly negative one which pushes away potential future regulars and the future of this forum.
