Recapper's Note:

On September 22, 2014, Corporal Germain Nault, who fought in the Invasion of Normandy during World War 2, passed away at the age of 93. He is the contestant on tonight's episode of Le Banquier, which was taped on July 23 and commemorates the 70th anniversary of this invasion.

Every year on November 11, Canadians celebrate Remembrance Day, a day which commemorates the end of World War 1. If you've been following the news lately, this year, the holiday is especially important.

Out of respect for Cpl. Nault, I will forgo my usual jokes and sarcasm in this recap.

And now, on with the show.

Sorry to hear that he passed away.

Had this been virtually any other version of the show, this episode probably wouldn't have aired, but given the very limited number of games each season on this version they had choice but to air this. I really can't comment on the game itself as it doesn't feel right under the circumstances. :? :? :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :( :( :(

The recap itself was difficult enough to post because of the circumstances, even without my usual commentary. As I mentioned above, the episode ran with disclaimers, and there was an article about it on Le Journal de Montreal's website last week.

I believe Cpl. Nault's family had the final say on whether or not the episode should air, and they chose to let it air as scheduled. They believed it would be a fitting tribute to a fine man who fought for his country.

There's nothing else to say, really, so I think I'll leave it at that.
