Seems as though the Irish version isn't returning anytime soon, so I though I'd put out a quick report on another version worldwide, this time of the Greek edition, called 'D€AL', which returned on screens on the 4th October after 2 1/2 years off the air. Good to know that the game has returned, even with problems elsewhere in the country after the financial crisis.
The Greek edition is the only version of the show (other than the Maltese version) that mirrors our version, with 22 boxes, and offers in a 5-3-3-3-3-3 format. The top prize was reduced from €200,000 to €150,000, and the introduction of a random amount to the board called 'X', resembling the Italian version of the show. Presentation is otherwise standard Euro fare.
Well, after just 3 shows back on air, this happens. Here's today's player, a very cheery young woman from a specific region of Greece (all players come from individual regions of the country).
Player with the updated boardAn ordinary game so far at 11-box, with the top 3 intact. A tap on the box is a no deal.Banker offers the swap, which she declines. Does he know something about the boxes contents? All of a sudden, the banker faces a real battle with the player, and offers a very high amount for the box. She no deals! She takes out the two remaining blues, with the perfect 3-box.And then, takes out the lowest amount, with the perfect 2-box ending! Banker can't think of anything to offer, other than the swap. She keeps her box.As it turns out, there's €100,000 in her box, still a very respectable amount! At the end, she dances with the presenter in the middle of the studio, with a party atmosphere as the show closes.I believe that just one player so far has won the top prize, and with this game, it was nearly two. She leaves with nearly 6 times the mean of the starting board, something we have seen only a few times here. Probably not much more drama until Miljoenenjacht starts again, which will make all these amounts of money appear rather small!
