Bit of a random thought, but I was thinking about how some of the 2006 games might have gone had they been played in later years.

1p Trevor might have had 'extra offers' with the £250,000 in live play and taken home five figures.

Many of the low winners would have left with £10,000 extra as you'd be mad not to buy Box 23 with a small amount of money.

Perhaps Mally, for example, would have been offered a Banker's Gamble?

More tactical deals and more unconventional spankings?

Would even the best statisticians have got the offer button?

The offer button being in a thing with a real statistician like DanJudge or Ed on the wings definitely would've been interesting. There would probably be a lot more button games AND far better tactical play of the button. We saw a brief glimpse of this in Love Week 2009 with Dan giving really good advice about using the love necklace.

Fadil would've gotten £5k-£6k on his final 2, which would've made his £7,200 look charitable

£47k Suzanne' s offers would've been well under half of what they were in her game, especially since it got to a stage where swap-only opening offers had just become an excuse for the banker to low-ball the offers for the rest of the game.

Beryl's game would've caused insufferable outrage on here if it was a 2008 game, and if it happened after Season 5, it would've been one of those games that got the forum into a miserable "The show is dying" mood (and a certain Ipswichian would've definitely had something to say  ;) )

£57k Brenda would've been offered £20k at 11-box and probably £35k at 8-box considering how stingy the banker became in games where the top 5 were there at 8-box.....

£500 Lindsay would've gotten a ludicrous post-game handout (even though she clearly wasn't upset about winning a blue) as they couldn't bare the thought of starting the new season on a downer

Vaughan and Janelle would've likely been kicked off the show before they were chosen for their attitudes

Games like 1p Trevor and £13k Simon would've gotten extra offers during the final round

A lot more players would've probably broken down when their games went badly, since a lot of them generally tried to hold it together in those days. Take £250 Jim for example who appeared to be reasonable about his game going badly, but apparently was a complete mess after the cameras stopped rolling :(

Jim R probably would've been a lot less hyperactive and much more focused, as they certainly wouldn't have let those louts who spurred him on into the studio at any other time

But not by too much. Really does highlight how shocking the offer was, has any non-joke offer ever been met with howls of derision by everyone in the studio?? Still brought out a rare character break from Noel, who directly tried to tell Fadil to deal the offer despite not being allowed to be partisan.

In effect, they were. Certainly Janelle. She'd have been present behind the scenes for no more than four days. Two days of sh*thousery, a third where issues are formally raised by the others, booted off with kindness on the fourth. Nicely timed air date too, England played Portugal in the WC simultaneously so less people than normal would have been watching.

It might have been implicit, but drunk students were actually encouraged for the 3rd frecording session of the day (the first two being mostly pensioners). If they weren't tanked on arrival, the complimentary drinks on offer before they sat down would have helped nicely. Jim R's game was probably a ''too much of a good thing'' moment though, as rowdy hordes did eventually stop.
