If there was ever evidence that I haven't got a life of any description (Jan 2017 edit - wow, heady days indeed), here are the fruits of my last week and a bit productive work... every single occasion in the show's history where the contestant had the best or worst possible round at what point in the game.

I asked on here if anyone could provide examples following on from Daniel4389's original topic which was last updated in July 2007, but decided to conduct the vast research necessery myself. Reasons were partly for my own interest and also if anyone on here is at all interested in these sort of things. Credit to Daniel4389 for starting the thread in the first place.

I have also included not just the regular 3 box rounds, but also every example of the contestant hitting the 1p or the £250k in the first box and the handful of contestants who had the best and worst possible first two boxes in the game and the sole example of the best possible first three boxes.

As I post this (24/08/2012) there have been 2,004 games. Each time somebody from this point hits a best/worst possible round, it will be updated here.

Proveout rounds are listed in RED

So, are you still here ? If so, then we'll proceed with who had the best and worst possible first box...

The next part of this thread looks at the perfect and nightmare second, third and fourth rounds that we have seen.

Interesting to note that no-one has yet to have a perfect second round. Also fascinating to note that 4 people in 2012 have had the worst possible third round and that it took us around 3 and a half years to get our first one.

EDIT: we have now had three 1 in 680 perfect rounds, all in 2014.

Best possible second round (1 in 680 chance):

Next we have every 10% perfect round in the show's history.

*If someone was in active play during Round 6, but dealt a 'lifeline' offer (usually with 3 boxes left), then their name and date and the active play boxes will be marked in the standard black font, only the final box after the deal will be marked in proveout red.

Finally, we have all the 10% nightmare rounds.

* Again, if the contestant is in active play during this final round and then deals a 'lifeline' offer, then the player name/date and active play boxes will be in standard black text, only the boxes after the deal will be in proveout red.

Worst possible sixth round (1 in 10 chance):

Wow, nice stats! :D You seem to have taken over my 'role' of "StatsMan" - but it's ok! :smt023

Do you have a spreadsheet with all these details, out of interest? Or have you researched these details recently? :D

Haha, it's alright :D :smt023

Nope, no spreadsheet, just a week and a half of exhaustive research using the old ilovedealornodeal website for Season 2-6 until it ran out at the end of Jan 2011, and then this site and the DOND blogspot for the shows from then until now !

And I'm still filling in a few details that I missed from Season 1, should be done shortly.

Need I remind you how much I lack a life of any sort ? Nah, thought not ;)

Ha! Well, a lot of us have dedicated time covering the stats side of things!

I've completely updated my spreadsheet now, so I can basically search most things

After we saw Chloe and Theo in consecutive games hitting the 1p in the first box, I discovered it was the 5th time this has happened !

And since July, we have only seen five 10% perfect last rounds :o

Barbara becomes the 36th contestant to achieve a perfect fifth round :D

Amazingly, the amount we should have seen statistically is indeed 36 !

As much as it pains me to point out, but Natalie became only the 8th person to achieve the worst possible 4th round.

She's also the 2nd person to achieve it by taking the highest 3 in descending order, a 1 in 990 chance.

Sickening.

This thread is absolutely brilliant :-D

A DoND/stats-obsessed mad man's wildest dream. I haven't visited this bit of the forum in yonks, I'm bloody glad I did today :P

Actually, I've had an idea. I don't know if there's already some research into this, but...

...I might take some of your own stuff and look into it. For instance, the "1p in the first box" people. I want to find out how many of them went on to a) win a "decent" amount (but what's the definition? Might just say, a red amount. Yeah, going with "Red"), b) claim an OPW, c) claim a TPW (I could go the whole hog with TBW/OBW...), or d) win a blue (or, deal at a blue amount).

The person who inspired this was John G, who of course won £250.

What I could then do, is work in the opposite way with the "£250k in the first box" people. Hopefully in due course, I could work out a way of doing something around the "best/worst possible rounds" contestants as well, for instance how many who had the worst second round, recovered to a) winning a red/ b) a tpw/opw, or c) had a catastrophic trainwreck of a game. For instance, and that's only an initial idea.

In fact...it's only 10.35 pm. I'm going to start on the 1p one this instant...

*Sorry, John G who swapped £250, for £10. My memory really is fading...

Oh, and one thing - Lance's show apparently was on 30/08/06. You'd stated 28/08. I'm never one for nit picking, but just to be "specific"... :-D

Edit: Seen StatsMan's comments. Would you like these stats on a spreadsheet? I could russle one up in no time :)

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
