Anyone been watching?

I haven't watched much of it, but I have been following it. And, with a lot of big names dropping out surprisingly early, it's been an eventful series. And the Murray match this evening, well...

I've kept an eye on it, actually. I saw the last 5 minutes of Nadal's surprise defeat and caught the aftermath of that of Federer. I'm not much of a tennis person, but I watched a fair bit of Murray's match this evening.

I wasn't impressed, really. The other bloke wasn't even a seed, 54th in the world, and should have been a straightforward run through for Murray. But it wasn't like that, he made it very tough for him and I don't think Andy played world-class tennis for....well, the entire match actually. He was second best for the majority of it.

He has luck partially on his side though, with all of the withdrawals and surprising exits of the other big names. That said, if he does go on to win it this year, he'll have to up his game on the way or it certainly won't be won on merit.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

I hope The Djoker wins. :smt023

Tennis is the one of only two sports I can watch for more than 15 minutes without getting bored. The other is baseball, where I can usually watch an entire match without boredom kicking in. Tennis isn't quite there yet. :P

Just seen a bit of John and Patrick McEnroe playing Jeremy Bates and Anders Jarryd in what appeared to be senior doubles. Bates/Jarryd were leading 7-5 3-4, but it's fair to say John and Patrick were showing flashes of brilliance, moments of class.

Leads me to the interesting question of who the oldest player currently active professionally might be....I'd hazard a guess at Kimiko Date-Krumm from the women's game (she's 42), but I wonder about the men's. Might have to look into that....

Good resolve to come back from 2-4 down in that 3rd set. I believe he was 1-4 down in the second, was he not?

Did similar against....Verdasco I think it was. He was 1-4 down but won the set 6-4. I think.

With my Scottish family, I'm proud. I did find it astonishing that on our own turf, one of "our own" hadn't won for 77 years, but that wait is now over. Here's to more of the same. :smt023

Edit: I think it was actually Janowicz he was 1-4 down to. :P
