Quick recap of the rules...

There are two boards. One figure is chosen at random and allocated to box 16 on both boards. This is your box and may not be swapped at any point. The rest are randomly allocated. If a value is taken out of one board it means that it's not in your box. You can therefore usually eventually work out what is in your box and play accordingly.

The offer pattern is 3-3-3-2-1-1-1. Offers are made seperately for each board. Saying Deal takes the higher of these two offers.

The board:

1p
10p
£1
£10
£100
£250
£500
£750

£1,000
£3,000
£5,000
£10,000
£20,000
£35,000
£75,000
£250,000

Your first selections...

(Oh and as an aside. I said last time this version of the game is actually playable to anyone in real life (though not at these stakes obv). Do you know where i've taken it from?)

Is it one of the fruit machine versions or something?

Anyway - I'll take out 8, 2, and 4.

I'm now playing board 2 alone, with a full awareness that a crash is possible.

I think I would have to keep both £75k and £250k to the next offer to get an offer I can distinguish readily from £20k. I have a 1/3 chance of just taking out £250k. Only one amount out of six that could be in my box is higher, and that is less than double. There's a fair chance of a bit more, but little chance of a lot more, and a clear and present danger of a crash. Therefore, DEAL!

(And this one I'm more confident of than the first one ;) )

13, 14, 15.

And another 2nd offer deal! There was much more to be had last time. Though I think that one was a stronger position. Let's see what happens...

Round Three - Board One

13: £1,000
14: £100
15: £1

Leaving...

£10
£250
£750

£3,000
£10,000
£20,000
£35,000

Banker's offer would've been:

£6,000

Round Three - Board Two

13: £35,000 :)
14: £500
15: £5,000

Leaving...

£1
£250
£750

£3,000
£10,000
£75,000
£250,000

Banker's offer would've been:

£25,000

So there's good news and bad news there. You've sold your box at a profit! But there was some more to win still. You need to hit £75k£250k. 2 more boxes...

Odds-on I don't keep £250k to the one-to-open rounds, at least.

11, 7.

Round Four - Board One

11: £250
7: £3,000

Leaving...

£10
£750

£10,000
£20,000
£35,000

Banker's offer would've been:

£8,000

Round Four - Board Two

11: £75,000 :)
7: £250,000 :D

Wow! Leaving...

£1
£250
£750

£3,000
£10,000

Banker's offer would've been:

£1,800

One more...

*does the happy dance*

The game is up. 9 would have been next, then 5, and finally 3.

Will rush through these without formatting. Nothing too exciting now really :)

Board One

9: £750
5: £35,000!
3: £10

Leaving at the end: £10,000/£20,000 - Offer: £14,750

Board Two

9: £3,000
5: £250
3: £1

Leaving at the end: £750/£10,000 - Offer: £5,000

So £10,000 in your box. Sold at a profit! There was slightly more to have if you went another round. If you pushed hoping for the £250k to give higher offers it'd have crashed, but you'd have got ~£15k out of it at the end. Phew!

I'm wondering if this might work better if the values were a bit closer together. Something like (apart from 1p) £500 minimum, £100,000 maximum. Both games have gone down the road of £250k being taken out early on one board making it easy to deal on the other. Think the £250k has a bit too much weighting.

Quite possibly. Not that certain people on here would deal anyway :P
