Week 10, and, unfortunately, our man Lewis' Reading team were soundly beaten by Imperial, 285-110. But well done anyway on a respectable effort Lewis and co! :smt023

This could be wrong, but I believe that if whoever loses next week scores less than 115 points, Glasgow will have qualified for the play-offs.

Thanks! Imperial were a brilliant team (and they were pretty lovely people too) so if we had to go out in the first round, I'm glad it was against them. We just about broke into triple figures which we were happy with. I haven't seen the whole episode (I was skipping through the parts I spoke on) but I think they cut out a couple of questions neither team got right - I buzzed in and guessed Debussy on the second question during the taping and that seems to have gone. There was a bit of downtime during the filming, as our first picture round got messed up. We were supposed to have a closeup of some flags but when someone buzzed in they went to the full view before he could answer, so we had to wait while they fetched Paxman a new set of questions. He wasn't impressed with our mascot or our reserve...

JP: Ah! This is Irene. She's our floor producer, but she doubles as a model. Go on Irene, give them a twirl....that *thing* doesn't look like me at all.

Crew: There's a resemblance...

JP: It doesn't look the slightest bit like me!! It's got a gigantic hooter and everything...who knitted that? (to our captain) You did? You should be ashamed of yourself. I hope you take it to bed!

Reserve: Can this bit be shown on the TV?

(Paxman glares into the audience for at least 3 seconds)

JP: Where on *Earth* did you come from?! Oh, he's one of yours? Well, I'll tell you, it's a long walk home to Reading for him!

:laughing

I don't think we were as bad as the scoreline represented - Paxman called us competent at least, and I feel against most of the teams we'd have at least been one of the 4 highest scoring losers. If I'd been a split second faster at recalling Hertz or Laos we would have been but we just drew an incredible team and that's just how it went. I hope Imperial went on to win the series (with Peterhouse second plz), and I have no doubt that they were capable of doing so.

Ahh, I knew Ben Fernando who played for Imperial - Knew him from dodgeball practice sessions (and drinks thereafter!) :D

Week 11, and an entertaining match between St Catharine's College Cambridge and Southampton, with the former winning 165-135 after a close affair.
