Yep, it's back tonight for its new series. With a brand new set! How exciting! (Unless you've already seen it in the Christmas specials! ) :smt023

A low scoring but pleasant start to the new series tonight, with Queen's University Belfast beating Aberdeen by 140-105.

I loved it as usual! Some of the answers were brilliant - for example, when asked to name a famous British Bridge in the 2nd picture round, the team answered "Bridge Over The River Kwai"! Needless to say Paxo's reaction (and that of the audience) was classic.

Shame to see Aberdeen go so early - not just for their classic answers or the fact that they're from Scotland, but because one of their contestants had (almost) the same as what I have - (some form of) a Cleft Lip and/or Palate,

A better match tonight, with Reading beating St John's College Cambridge by 180-120.

Drat, I had a quarter of a million quid on Cambridge winning.

I'm joking of course, but let's hope that all matches are even closer than the first two.

Tonight's match was the best of the series so far, with Trinity College Cambridge trouncing Christ Church Oxford by a whopping 300-150! Great stuff there, and the Oxford side may well reach the repechage.

When I said I predicted an exciting match...that wasn't what I meant.

That must be the first time for years - if not ever - that a team has scored 300 or more points!

Also - how about we keep a leaderboard of all the losing teams scores, so we know who is likely to return for the repechage?

Good match tonight, with Queens' College Cambridge narrowly beating Durham by 190-170. I would imagine Durham have done enough to reach the repechage.

Another good match tonight, with Clare College Cambridge beating Loughborough by 195-155. Loughborough may well have done enough to make the repechage.

Another decent match tonight, with SOAS of London beating Southampton 230-155. It's borderline whether Southampton's score will be enough for the repechage.

So, tonight saw the return of the mighty Manchester, and their latest title defense began much better than last year, as they comfortably beat Brasenose College Oxford by 215-105.

I indeed watched some of it. I got all the chemistry questions correct. I'm now confident that I have passed my exams.

What an absolute massacre tonight, with Liverpool annihilating Keele by 295-40!

Whew, what a match. Balliol College Oxford dominated Peterhouse Cambridge early on, but then the Cambridge side woke up in the second half, and raced away on the buzzer to win by 250-145.

Not quite a trouncing tonight, but a good win for Somerville College Oxford, beating Pembroke College Cambridge 255-145.

Well, that was a pretty dull match tonight. Neither team really got into second gear. In the end, Cardiff defeated Exeter by 145-95.

For a while, I thought this would be that really close match, where no-one takes a big lead until the last minute.

And as with last year, Paxo's lines have made the series so far really.

To be honest, I'm enjoying this series so far much more than last year's. Last year's first round was mostly full of low scoring matches of little note; this year has been much better in terms of average performance. :smt023

Again, not a terribly exciting affair, but a good result for Downing College Cambridge, who beat St John's College Oxford 260-115.
