IS nobody going to go for the half million?

I'm a confetti hound, and nobody has won £500,000 before.

No Deal.

Oh, number 3.

With this post, the £10 contest is over; everything has been calculated, and the winner and runner-up winners have been decided! :D

First, we shall end Week 30. Aaron Brock and Skyline have dealt £176,000. But Archstered is a self-proclaimed confetti hound and has decided to gamble £175,999 in hopes of winning an additional £324,000 and the title of first ever (and perhaps only ever) half million pound winner. Was that a wise decision for him?

He has elected not to swap, so he is opening the box brought to the table. That box contains:

£1 :(

Well, Archstered has a curious (and unfortunate) tendency of making the wrong decision, so I suppose this is a very fitting way for my tenure as host of WWYRD to end.

On a happier note, Aaron Brock and Skyline have secured banker spankings! :smt023

With Week 30 thus over, I can announce the winners of this contest. But before that, let me say upfront that I am so happy to have had you bunch play with me, not just for these ten weeks, but for all the past thirty as well. At least three people have not stuck around after starting to play at some point, but for the most part once you guys started participating, you didn't stop, which is wonderful.

I probably should have tested out my contest rules before presenting them to you; alas, I was too busy and lazy to do so. As a result, the participation scores made for a highly significant part of the rankings. Thus the people who participated at least 99% of the time were really the only ones ever in contention. For instance, despite Skyline's £250,000 win, he ranks 4th out of 9, beaten out by the more participatory players. (Is it unfair to say that before announcing who's won? :ponder: )

I plan for this to be my last post, not just in this subforum, but forum wide as well. I will PM the winners in order to determine the best way of submitting them their rewards, but after that, Saperogo as a forum member is dead. It's time for me to move on from this place, considering it is in more or less the same shape it was when I first came, whereas my desire to be here is significantly less than it was when I first joined.

I apologize for the sad twist in that last paragraph, but I needed a place to say it, and here is just as good a place as any. :|

Okay, I'm done with my monologue. Here are the results:

1. American Coupon Boy
2. daniel123
3. willrelf
4 (tie). Archstered & Skyline
6. hogwild94
7. Aaron Brock
8 (tie). jakecarroll84 & Joel

Therefore, American Coupon Boy wins £10, and daniel123 wins £5. Thanks for playing, everyone! :)

You can see the rankings in more detail in this Excel file. If you happen to notice a mistake that makes for a significant change in rankings (i.e., someone is bumped into the top two), please let me know... somehow. :suspect:

Oh yeah, I promised I would select the guest host for Week 31. Here are the selections that have been made:

1.
2.
3. Archstered
4.
5. hogwild94
6.
7. willrelf
8.
9. American Coupon Boy
10.

With the help of random.org, the number selected is:

Image

So, Archstered is the guest host of Week 31! :D It is up to him to select a guest banker and guest box selector (if he wants them), and to determine when the rounds for Week 31 will be posted, and etc.

Goodbye, dond.co.uk.

Thanks for everything Saperogo; you have been a brilliant host and will be sorely missed by everyone here. I hope life treats you well in whatever you do! :D

Shame to miss out on the Top 2 by a place, but I never expected to get there as I'm one of the more cautious players here. Congratulations to American Coupon Boy and daniel123 on coming 1st and 2nd! :)

Would have chosen 3 myself if it wasn't for my lucky number, but as it is Archstered will guest host the next week and it is up to him what he decides to do for guest banker, guest box selector, etc.

If anybody would like to be my box selector (Except for the one on the table, that will get chosen completely at random,) PM me before 1:30 AM!

Thank you willrelf, and thank you Mark. Well done to you, Ben. :)

Mark, it's been an absolute pleasure, and you will duly be eulogised in Members' Off-Topic. A place on hallowed ground, and as you Americans might say, boy do you deserve it.

I know this won't be the last time I speak to you (well, unless extenuating circumstances arise), but it is via this medium; so thank you again, and good luck. :smt023

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
