It's an amazingly generous offer. (I think the only reason the banker made that promise was because there was a 60% chance of the mean being no bigger than £300! Hah.)

You're right there. I've been beaten by the better player, unless you deal and have the £100,000 or no deal and have the 50p. It's still 50:50.
