I've heard today (via Suezan) the sad news that Beryl, who played in February 2006 and won £3,100, passed away back in April.

From what I can recall, Beryl was quite a character on the show, and by all accounts a lovely person away from it. I think that is what I'll remember her for, alongside her place in the record book as one of the first third-offer deals.

I hope one of Deal or No Deal's pioneering figures is now busy entertaining the people of the next world. Rest in peace, Beryl.

:(

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

She wasn't the first 3rd offer dealer. Jennie was who played after 1p Nick and £5 Irene.

She may have not been the first 3rd offer dealer, but she was the founding member of my Horrible Deals Club.

If you haven't got any thing nice to say, then don't post on this thread.

RIP Beryl. :( I liked her a lot.

Ben, take yourself somewhere else. That's not welcome here, and neither are you. :?

Not another one of these, it's always really sad to hear of a contestant's passing

She was lovely and funny on the wings, but in typical forum fashion, she gets remembered for her deal rather than her antics on the wings (her "If there's £15,000 in there, i'm going to kick that box across the room" comment was classic!). Rest in peace :(

How old was she? She must've had a good innings as she looked a fair age when she was there!

I don't know how old she was, as Suez never mentioned her age, but she did say she had visited her a few years back; from looking at her, I'd guess at...well, I'm not sure how appropriate that might be, now I think of it... :ponder: :smt023

If I'm completely honest - as always - I have to admit I don't remember much from that time, as I'd just started watching the show and my memory of events eight years ago is quite sketchy. :smt023

That's sad to hear. Beryl may not have made the best of deals in her game, but she came across really well on the show. Plus, regardless of her age, she had a good run.

Actually, she was the 3rd player to accept the 3rd offer. There was Jenni who played the day after 1p Nick, and Andrew from late January-2006 who dealt at a VERY generous £14,000 at 11-box with only the £20k, £50k and £100k higher, it's easy to forget him though! ;)

Looks like Dilys who played in show 7, died at the age of 85 last year. Not a confirmed source, but found a source online with the same first and surname, and in the same county of bedfordshire. :(
