Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

6 years ago, the legend that was EUNICE played and along with giving us plenty of laughs, gave us a £13,000 OPW :D

2 years ago, Becky had the lowest value Banker Spanking ever with just £750. Her highest offer was only £450.

2 years ago, Jimmy Carr played the first of the celebrity specials. He ended up with just £750 having bravely declined a generous £14,000 on a £750/£35,000 board. :(

6 years ago, Bash had a good start after Derek's crash and burn game the day before, with an opening offer was £11,000, and a good second round lead to generous second offer of £14,000. After declining the 14-box offer, Bash's game started to go down hill and from 8-box onwards, it was a struggle to get anything decent out of his game, and after No-dealing the last offer of £1,300 on a £1/£5,000 finish, Bash's final gamble didn't pay off, and he won just £1 from his box. :(

I think the most interesting thing about that game was Noel trying to guilt-trip Bash at the end for not taking the £14,000 at 14-box! :? I don't think even Richard Not long to go now guys! ;) would've dealt that!!

But still, the trend of games at the time really were proving that things were starting to go badly wrong in the dream factory, and the next 2 games following this wouldn't help cause very much either :(

Oh, and in case you're wondering why i'm mostly bringing up 2008 games in this thread. It's because i'm feeling just a little bit 'nostalgic' about my trip to Western Australia this time 6 years ago, and 2008's days dates correspond with 2014's days and dates! (Well almost, 2008 was a leap year that started on a Tuesday, and 2014 is a common year that started on a Wednesday!) :smt023

8 years ago, Fadil became the third 1p winner after no-dealing a rather mean offer of £7,200 on a 1p/£35,000 final showdown :(

6 years ago, Michelle, one of the contestants alongside Angela and Troy who frequented the forums at the time, dealt at £15,500 at 5-box, which was nearly an OPW, but after refusing the Banker's gamble on a £750/£35,000 finish, she was denied an OPW when £35,000

5 years ago, Thel dealt at £17,500, and, like Michelle was denied of an OPW when her box was opened to reveal £20,000

4 years ago, Adam had a strong game throughout and at one point had an offer £28,000! He continued to 5-box, where he dealt at an offer of £21,500, at which his board consisted of £3,000/£10,000/£20,000/£35,000/£75,000, the proveouts didn't favour him, when he missed out on an offer of £37,500 on a £10,000/£75,000 final 2 and had £75,000 in his box!

3 years ago, Dave Octave had offers ending in 888 (a reference to his surname). But he recieved very low offers and had bad luck throughout, and he ended up with only £100 :(

2 years ago, Alan had an OPW. But i forgot how much he won

1 year ago. Was it Neil who won nothing this time last year?! :?

*looks up commentary archives*

Alan won £16,500.

Neil's game was the next day. Last year it was Jean who dealt at an extremely generous third offer of £15,000 where the board consisted of 1p/50p/£1/£100/£250/£1,000/£3,000/£5,000/£20,000/£35,000/£250,000. The offer was 177% of the FD and 52% of the mean which is very high for that point of the game.
She was denied a spanking due to ridiculously inflated proveout offers of £22,500 and £31,000.

6 years ago, Emma surprised everyone by dealing at £17,000 at 11-box, which incredibly ended up being an OPW! :D

But I think the biggest talking point was the apparent reputation Emma had with the other players off screen. With some of her fellow contestants posting on here saying that the group was having problems with Emma off screen!

2 years ago, Olly Murs played the second of the celebrity specials becoming the first and only person to play DOND twice. Unfortunately, he won just 50p from his box. :(

Last year, Roy became the first person to deal at £100,000!

2 years ago, Sarah Millican played the third of the celebrity specials. She dealt a very generous £20,000 on a board consisting of 50p/£250/£100,000. However, she missed out on an inflated £36,000 and had the £100,000 in her box.

It is now a year since Gareth played the first of the Deal in Space specials. He successfully landed the spaceship in just 28 seconds producing some very generous offers in the next round. After bravely declining £9,000 and accidentally saying No Deal to £12,000, he dealt at £19,000 on a board consisting of £100/£5,000/£75,000 resulting in a Banker spanking! :D

Oh my gosh, how did I completely miss Suzanne's 3 year anniversary? I can't believe it's been that long since her game!

Indeed! Today's the anniversary of Harry who had the slightly dubious honour of playing the next game, and proved very different as his 8-box deal worked out perfectly (even though it wasn't the peak of his game)!

May 2011 should be known as Mad May. It's pretty much up there with March 2006 and January 2007 in terms of talking points. Halfway through the month, we'd already had Al's big gamble gone wrong, Debs' incredibly generous offers, Fi's mystery 5-box offer, Wilf's cautious 11-box deal almost working out, then being outdone for controversy by Michael's 5-box deal... and of course Suzanne's game then outdoing the lot of them! There were plenty more surprising games coming up too...
