I don't. If a player wants to go for it, then go for it... may never, never never get a chance to try for a chance to win a quarter of a million ever again.

In my opinion, Kerry-Anne made the most reckless No Deal in the history of the show. She was offered a £140,000 AMO when she was only guaranteed £10,000 but she still went for the £250,000 SOLELY because she believed she had it. She even admitted in her post-show interview that she had massive regrets about turning down the £140,000 as it would have allowed her to stop working and fulfill all her ambitions.

Why is the spectacle of the quarter-million more acceptanle of gameplay than a reasonanle deal, to you? The complete antithesis of your statement is, "If a player wants to deal, then deal... may never ever get a chance to win (insert offer here) ever again."

Easily one of the very few cases where I'll happily call a player 'foolish'. I would be saying exactly the same had the £250,000 been won.

7 years ago today, June sensibly dealt £23,000 on a 5 blues/£50k/£75k/£250k 8 box for a banker :spank .

5 years ago today, Harvey dealt £20,000 on an 8 box with the top 3 still in play, an offer somewhat low-balled because of that stupid prediction the Banker made after Richard's game that no one would win more than £20,000. :smt011 Because of his cautious Deal, he missed out on a £40,000 offer on a £10k/£100k finish and £100,000 from his box.

4 years ago today, Skyline called himself an idiot.

3 years ago today, Liam proved himself to be very determined to the Banker and because of that he was offered a very generous £26,000 on a 1p/10p/£750/£20k/£250k 5 box. He sensibly dealt, but missed out on the Rodney/Jennifer finish, the Rodney offer, and the £250,000 via the hypo-swap for his lucky number 9.

2 years ago today, Stacey had nearly an identical 5 box to Liam's (mentioned above) except she had the £1 instead of the 1p. She also sensibly dealt for £22,000 which turned out to be a Banker :spank .

By the way, tomorrow, the 27th of May, is the anniversary of a very important yet long forgotten event in Deal or No Deal history. Can anyone guess what it is? :ponder:

Guesses off the top of my head:
  • The first 50p winner.
  • The first 1p winner. (Probably not, since it's this wouldn't have been forgotten.)
  • The first 1p/10p climax. (I think this was June 2008, though.)
  • The first £100,000 win.
  • The first time American Coupon Boy watched a game.
  • Noel's birth.

I assume you're either talking about Sarah dealing at £7,500 at 11-box with the top 2 still in play and then missed out on the £100,000 (Actually, SO many co-incidences with her namesake who played on the same date last year. She also did a cautious deal, played on a Sunday, and kept the £100k in play to the end - £9,000 Sarah SORT OF got away with it though as she didn't have the £100,000 on the table), Or Mark's game from 7 years ago where his lowest offer was £6,000, but he no-deal to the end for a £5,000 box win, making him the first player to win the lowest amount by opening their box and still winning a red.

£5,250 Debs' game was pretty nondescript, Ellie had a £10k OPW, although it pretty much meant nothing because of the no-one-wins-more-than-£20,000 gimmick , Welsh postman Darren's game was good, his game was on OPW, but Noel didn't call it a spanking, he called it a STAMPING as Darren was a postman :P

Something in your post has a lot to do with the event I'm thinking of.

Oh, is this when a show was accidentally aired in the late night sign slot the night before?

Was it the debut of someone on the wings?

Oh, hang on, didn't Debs do a 61p round?

I'll give you all a hint. It was an event that wasn't mentioned on the show.

Was there not one single complaint during the show commentary for that game?

One last hint: It has something to do with the Banker and his attitude toward the game.

I was thinking it had something to do the fact that two namesakes (Sarah) played on the same date but it's probably not that.

EDIT - I hadn't read ACB's last post when I posted the above so it definitely isn't that.

My mind's gone blank, indeed I don't even remember how much Darren won!!

I had a feeling the event was forgotten enough for no one to guess it, hence why I mentioned it in the first place. ;)

Anyway, today is the 6th anniversary of the day the Banker suddenly stopped with his early 2007 generosity and started to play the game like he does down to this day, basing the offer on the board and the player about 50/50. The game before, Stephen got offered more or less the average (£20,000 when the average was £20,210) at 5 box, whereas on that day Sarah got offered £7,500 on a 7 blues/£1k/£10k/£100k/£250k 11 box (which she dealt  ), and had she gone on she would've been offered £17,500 on a 1p/£100k finish. To further prove the end of the Banker's generous offers, the next day Craig was only offered £25,000 on a 4 blues/£15k/Top 3 8 box (which he also dealt  ), a configuration that would yield £40,000+ just a few days before then.

Hm... I want to take a crack at this!

28 May 2006: Nobody played!

28 May 2007: Craig dealt at the fourth offer of £24,500 with the top three still in play... for a banker spanking! :D

28 May 2008: Everyone predicted a third round deal from Ian due to how long the beginning took (my, how things never change ;) ) but he played on! He was then offered £12,500 at 8-box with £15k/£50k/£250k as the top three, called it a good offer, but played on and took the top two out. :( At least he won £250 and not something smaller!

28 May 2009: Kulwinder's game. She had a really powerful first round followed by a really horrid second round! She got to 11-box with £5k/£50k/£100k as the only reds  , turned down £5,000 and took out £100k in the first box  . With £50k as the only red at 5-box she was offered £4,000. She turned it down and had an all blue finish, winning only 50p. :(

28 May 2010: Jean. She had a powerful start, getting to 11-box having only taken out £1k/£3k/£10k/£75k from the right half of the board, but took out the £100k in the fourth round. She declined £21,000 at 8-box but took out the £250k in the final box of the round... but the offer went up to £24,000 due to having the £15k/£20k/£35k/£50k block! Despite that being nearly half the top prize at 5-box, she turned it down and proceeded to take out the last blue! With a £15k/£50k finish she was offered £32,500 which she bravely turned down... to win £50,000! :D

28 May 2011: Nothing happened.

28 May 2012: Neil played and had a rough start, having a £35k-high board at 11-box :( . He dealt at 8-box for £5,000 with £15k/£20k/£35k as the only reds (to me, a sensible deal) but proceeded to have an all blue round and missed a £11,500 5-box offer. He was offered the Banker's Gamble on £100/£20k, turned it down (still somewhat sensibly) but had £20,000 in his box. He still won £5,000, though!

28 May 2013: First ever male quarter millionaire despite a female playing and taking out the £250k in the first box. ;) (Disclaimer: I have no idea what happens today.)

(How was I?)
